I replaced the batteries, which I thought was the culpret for my camera not being able to turn on, yet it is still in active. I replaced the batteries again and nothing. I didn't drop it on the ground, or in the water, other than a few scratches the camera is in good condition, and barely a year old... I don't want to shell out money for a new camera... but I need it to work! what should I do!?!?
I also have this problem. I tried to use upgraded batteries and it still won't work. I contacted Canon and they advised me to send the camera to them so they could look at it. I received it as a Christmas gift so I don't have the receipt. So - they probably will make me pay for any repairs. Please let me know if you came to any other conclusions about this problem. Thanks.

I have this problem too. I put rubber bands around the camera, tightening up the battery compartment lid. I do not like this fix and feel that Canon should provide a solution.
