When I use the lcd in camera mode, it is very dark and streaky (lens cap is removed) and I get nothing in the playback mode (audio works fine). Please help. My 2 y/o daughter is growing up and we have no evidence.

This is most likely a defective CCD problem. While most manufacturers have advertised a service advisory for this problem, Samsung has not. Call them and suggest a defective CCD and they'll send you a mailing label for a warranty repair at no charge. 1-800-726-7864

HI,
It's impossible to turn the camera off. Only way is take out the battery.
No button warks, but I can change the shooting mode and turn playback, but I can't change the image in playback mode.
Please, help me to solve this problem.
I think, the camera needs to be restarted, but how to do that?
Thanks a lot.
I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not
see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else
worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback
as well.
I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told
the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito,
Ecuador)
JVC will repair for free some camcorder models that suffer from the LENS CAP error. The repairs are free until OCTOBER 1, 2007 only so hurry up and see if your model is listed at http://www.jvcservice.com/service/custnoticecamcorder.asp?ReqType=CCD
Simple! Read warnings carefully! It said "remove lens cap and press SET button"! So remove the lens cap and then press the SET button (or arrow downward in the four directions button)! You don´t need to RESET anything...
Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. you need professional service to fix it.
Sounds like you may have a problem in the auto iris curcuit or the auto settings was switched to manual and the lens is closed. Check first to see that the lens is setup in auto mode. If it is then the auto iris as i said before is bad or stuck closed unless the small caps in that curcuit went bad as they always do after a few years. Good Luck
