I purchased an Insigna HDTV (or so I thought) at Best Buy a year ago, anticipating the February 09 conversion. I also bought a HD specific antenna, since I don't subscribe to either cable or the "dish". However when our local TV stations ran a "test", the resulting picture indicated that my TV failed. Did Best Buy make a mistake, or is there something I still need to do? (convertor box / program TV)

I was not aware that there are HD specific antennas. But, that aside, I don't know enough to answer without the model number of your set and information about the antenna, such as how you have it connected, is it amplified?
Best Buy is usually pretty good about helping with solutions. Have you called or visited a store? Be sure to ask for the Geek Squad person/s that are specifically assigned to TV's. Also most of their Dept heads are pretty knowledgeable concerning conversion and the associated problems. My apologies for not having a better answer.

What indoor antenna works with the 51UWX20B; I have tried two in Antenna A & B connections and scanned 69 channels but cannot get one channel

I assume that you are in USA. Your tv is older unit and since it was new lots of things changed. In USA analog tv broadcast stopped few years ago and your tv is not digital ready. You need conversion box between antenna and tv or you will not get any broadcast. Those boxes were provided by government years ago free of charge. Now you will nerd to purchase one. Something like that

Not using cable anymore. bought an antenna. how do I install. did get directions but did not work

Hello, Patr -

This article and video may prove instructive:
https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/how-to-buy-and-install-an-hd-antenna/

There are a variety of over-the-air (OTA) TV antennae. Without knowing exactly what antenna (make and model) you purchased, it is a challenge to provide you with specific directions.

You can add more information on your antenna by choosing Comment and typing the information in the Comment box.

Best wishes.

I bought the tv about 10 years ago and was told I would have to buy a separate "box" for HD reception. Any clues?

dc6piece,

This unit does not have a HD tuner so you would need a separate box. See Best Buy. They can help you.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

My Panasonic 47 inch rear view projector is hdtv ready, what do I need to buy to recieve pictures in HD

You should be able to receive the HD signal from your cable company. If you are still receiving your signal over the air, then you can buy an HD tuner. I found mine at Best Buy for $179 a few years ago. It will come with component outputs which is the HD signal.

I'm using my 70's vintage antenna on my house to receive the 3 local channels in HD.

Good Luck,

HDTV no over the air signal.

No... Andraade11,

There is nothing exclusive of using a HDMI port...
you can have it all.

You are still able to switch right back to your old configuration...

I believe you merely need to step through your
"SOURCES"

Unless Dish us incredibly behind the curve
they used a HDMI to bring their signal to your set...

and add ($$$) a LOCAL "OPTION" into
their feed... but if you ALREADY had an antenna
hooked up... you should be able to switch right back to that source... or a VIDEO PLAYER obviously IF you have one)

and/or a SECURITY screen
(if you have a compatible camera or server)

Etc. etcetera...

TV antenna

Hi splhcb,

Your television is already an HDTV, meaning it is set up for receiving digital broadcasts. In this case, you should not need a separate converter box for over-the-air reception. You will need an antenna, but the type you purchase depends on things like how far you live from broadcast towers, landscapes, buildings, and where it will be located in your home. Although many antennas are being marketed as HDTV compatible, if you already own an antenna you likely can continue using it. Otherwise, it is best to speak with someone at the store who can weigh the factors in your situation to recommend the best antenna.

Thank you,
Jason,

Antenna for my HDTV

Special HD or Digital antennas are not required to receive digital stations. A good VHF/UHF antenna should work. Try an amplified antenna for the best reception. Most antennas have a coax type connector which should connect to the ant. in jack on the back of your DirectTV box or to your tv depending how the box is connected to your tv.
