SOURCE: 30" Viking downdraft

After 11 years of use, the same problem just happen a few days ago - fan keeps running, doesn't respond to the on/off switch. Also cannot reset filter alert. As far as I can tell the entire switch panel isn't working. Or worse, shorted out. Might have to replace the ribbon and some switches.
For example the switches can be found at AllVikingParts.com For example --> http://www.allvikingparts.com/Button_Switch_Assy_p/pv300182.htm
There's a another thread on this forum: http://www.fixya.com/support/t410261-viking_downdraft_ventilator_electrical
I'll post the exact solution as soon as I have it figured out completely.

Viking downdraft VIPR162ss downdraft stopped working 3 months ago

Probably due to the up/down switch (part # PV300182 - about $80 on most Viking parts websites) on the top right end of the unit having failed which, I understand, is common (also just happened to me). Others have said it is relatively easy to replace, but I would certainly like a detailed procedure to remove/replace this part.

Downdraft ventilator has stopped working

We have a Viking VIPR101 30" downdraft ventilator. We've learned that the ON-OFF switch on the side of the ventilator can overheat and burn out when it is held down continuously (poor design). Best to push and quickly release it. First time we had the switch professionally replaced--it's modular and very simple to swap out. Next time we fixed it ourselves with switch part # PV300182 from allvikingparts.com. They had replacement guidance on-line. Hope this is useful.

No gas on viking professional. ignitor works downdraft does not

There are solenoids that turn the gas on to a burner. If they're bad it won't supply gas to the burner. There is also a mother board on that model that could also be the problem. When it comes to this brand it's difficult to diagnose without being there. If the downdraft is not working then I would guess that the mother board could be the problem...sorry I couldn't help more.

My Viking VIPR101 Downdraft Ventilator is not working.

It's fixable, but it is easier for them to just sell you the whole expensive part. See the problem and solution at:
