Jumping laser I have this machine jumping around the disc after approx 5 mins of playing. Can't find anywhere to get a part or service, can anyone advise. Guess my best bet is to replace the part but myself but depends on the price, is it just as well to get a whole new player??

This type of unit is made by a manufacturer for another to put their name on. Most likly, unless you go back where you purchaced the unit, it will be hard to get any parts or service for this player. It is most probably the tracking or focus servo, or the laser going bad, and will cost more then a new unit would be with labor. As a user, it will be tough to replace or service these types of decks unless you have test disc and the know how to do the critical servo alighnments and the grating alighnments to the laser pickup assemblies. Good Luck PS please do not forget to rate this thread.

You can get a good quality trunk mounted multiplayer that only needs voltage to it, as it plays through the radio for less then 200 bucks now.

Hi my traxdata cd900 recorder has just developed a problem. Ive been using maxell cdr's most were fine but lately:- a) optical failure error occasionally occurs b) will happily record approx 15 mins...

First to confirm if its a transport problem play a CD from track 1 to the last. If it is not getting stuck and smoothly plays till the end -- transport is OK. The same laser unit which reads the disc also writes. But when it writes the laser intensity is several times higher and the unit runs very hot. And old unit will start to misbehave due to the heat. TIME FOR REPLACING THE DRIVE UNIT.

My PS2 wont spin the disk or play it and when ever I turn it on it comes up with Browser or System Configuration

Hello
The problem seems to be your laser, It sounds like it is not reading the disc.
You need to do 1 of 2 things.
1st if you cam give a quick strong blow into the disc tray when it is open, to remove any dirt and dust from the laser area.
2nd If you can get hold of a laser cleaning disc and use this to clean your CD/DVD drive. Just insert the disc and let it play for 5 mins. You can get these discs from almost anywhere, try your local supermarket.
Hope this helps

Kenwood CD-203 5-Disc CD Changer will not play CDs. It powers up and recognizes a CD within the slot, but it does not read the disc to begin playing.

The laser might be the culpert, be sure its clean by using a swab and a alcohol. If the laser is needed
it could cost approx $75 unless their using a Sony
which might be cheaper!

What can I use to fix a laser burn on xbox 360 disc? I have a laser burn on my MW2 because I accidently knocked the console, does anyone know of anything that can fix the disk at home? I have heard about...

dont use either of those, they'll wear down the disc and scratch it more... i recommend a disc-doctor.... (basically a drive that polishes disc layers down to make the surface of the disc even with the scratch) you can buy one for around 50$ or go to gamestop and service the disc for around 5$

Unreadable discs for xbox360 after playing them for approx 30 min

This happens when the laser is set too low power, ideally the laser should be set to around 280ohms where yours may be at 400 or thereabouts., replacement lasers will fix this problem or if its possible maybe a re-alignment would also make it work again. Replacing the part is very easy and you can find the lasers on ebay for around £15. If you get stuck and need help we offer a full repair service www.fixmyconsole.co.uk

Sony dvp-nc80v

If this happened after a power surge, it's possible that one or more capacitors in the power supply have been damaged, and that could cause the player to act up. Otherwise, the symptom you're experiencing is a classic one of the laser pickup not reading the tracks on the disc (assuming you meant to say it switches the disc after approx 5 Seconds). If it is within the warranty period, it would be worth getting looked into. You can get a good CD/DVD player to act up like this by placing the discs upside down on the platter.
