I have an Acer Aspire 3680 Series It's been working fine, but I could only get about an hour of use from a full battery charge. Now when I try to boot up, the Yellow Battery Light blinks 8 times . . and that's all I get?

Take out the battery and make sure you can turn on the laptop with just the AC Adaptor hooked up.
If you can then you know the AC Adaptor is good. Try another known good working battery in the laptop, if the battery charges then you know that the old battery is bad.
If the laptop doesn't charge with a know working battery or a new one then you know that the motherboard is bad.
Try unplugging the computer from the power supply,,and remove the battery,,,then replace battery and plug into power supply again,,,and try to restart.
