We recently had a power outage and since then my receiver turns on for a few seconds then quickly turns off with "protect" flashing across the display. I've followed all the troubleshoots possible in the owner's manual but with no success? any advice?

You have a problem in the main power supply or the output circuit in this reciver. If you have any solid state repair experience, go inside and unsolder or take out the main output devices, and try to turn on the unit. If it still does not come on, your going to need to troubleshoot the power supply. If it does come on then the output devices you took out are bad. If you have no training in this stuff, seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. There are no user replaceable parts inside these units. Good Luck

65 inch mitsubishi model# 65736 green light blinking

If the TV does not stay on, press the POWER button on the control panel for at least eight seconds to perform System Reset. The TV will turn off. Power on the TV and the green LED will flash quickly for about one minute. The changes you made most recently, before using SYSTEM RESET, may be lost. If this happens frequently, obtain an AC line power conditioner/surge protector.

An unusual digital signal may have been received, triggering a protection circuit. Wait for the light to stop flashing and turn TV on.

Momentary power fluctuation caused the TV to turn off to prevent damage. Wait for the green light to stop flashing and turn the TV on again

Refrigarator not working after power outage

When power goes on and off suddenly, it can cause the compressor to overload and "trip out" This is supposed to protect the compressor from being electrically damaged. In most cases, after 10 or 15 minutes, the compressor will reset. It is usually safer to switch off the fridge or unplug it for 10 to 15 minutes to ensure a full reset. If it doesn't start, the power surge may have damaged the compressor relay. or overload device on the side of the compressor. I would doubt that it damaged the compressor itself. Be aware of the relay and overload device, unfortunately, there are Techs who will quote for a compressor job when all it needs is a relay or overload.

Pioneer vsx-521-k power goes on then off

Sounds like a short in the amp that will need to be repaired before the unit will stay powered on.

Yamaha RX V671 will not turn on anymore after a power outage

The protection mode has activated.
Reset the protection mode as follows and see what happens.

Connect power cord to mains and wait 5 seconds or so. While holding down "info" and "tone control" buttons, press "main zone" power button briefly and release, but keep "info" and "tone control" buttons pressed for at least 3 more seconds. The unit should power up. Assuming the reason for the protection has passed or been fixed, the unit can now be turned off and then back on with the "main zone" power button to restore normal operation mode.
If the protector activates again, the fault is still present and the unit needs to be repaired, ideally by a Yamaha authorised repairer.
There are dangerous voltages present in high power amps and a lot of grunt in terms of stored energy - best left to trained technicians.

I have a Sony STR-DE 597 reciever. I have been using it fine for a few years with no problems and it sounded great. I turn the unit on recently and a message was displayed on the unit that said PROTECT....

Protect will usually show up if the receiver was turned up too loud to the point where the speakers will crackle, the receiver will switch to protect to not damage anything. Unplug it for about 30 seconds and check all the audio wiring in the back to make sure everything is plugged in good and tight and no loose cables or stray pieces of copper audio wire and plug it back in.

My pioneer vsx 54 tx is in a blinking standby mode. The blinking light will not go off and the unit will not power on. What do I do?

Or maybe something is obstructing the rear panel ventilation device (or it has failed). Page 84

I had a problem recently after a power outage where both my receiver and an external amp would not power up until I unplugged them from the wall for a moment first.

Turns off as soon as you turn it on...amp circuit protection

It might just be a problem with the power supply unit within the receiver. Recent power surge perhaps, or power outage?? If you are up to it, remove the casing and look to see if there are any blown fuses on the circuit boards. Unplug the unit before you start fishing around in there. Hope this is helpful.

Protect keeps flashing

Protet mode is a special diagnostic mode that starts when a fault is detected.

When in protection mode the unit is prevented from starting by protection circuit, so to prevent further damage.

Check the speakers and speakers wiring, a contact in speaker wires, or faulty speakers can send the unit in protection.

Try unplugging power cable for one hour or so. then connect cable back and see if you get rid of protect state. Sometimes accumulation of electrostatic charges inside circuit capacitors can kick in protect mode. In that case unplugging the unit from main for some times can get rid of electrostatic charges, and reset circuits by draining power completely.
If that was the problem, you will not get Protect when plugging back power cable.

If you do all the above and still get Protect, then there is a real fault.

In that case the unit may be disassembled and tested to find the fault.

If that is the case I suggest contacting the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, or asking a quote on repair to a local technician.
