My Fuitsu A1010 starts-lights, fan, fujitsu start screen, for a couple of seconds then shuts down. I have checked the memory, battery and power supply and even another hard drive - all seem to be ok. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Laptop starts then shuts down
As soon as you power up keep pressing F8 to get into safe mode.
You will see a black screen with various options, go to Safe mode with networking, and see if your laptop stays on.
If it does you should be able to go to the manufacturer web site and download latest graphic drivers, as this may be the problem.
Download, then uninstal current graphics driver from add/remove programmes.
Re-boot your pc and when it finds your graphics again ensure that you point windows to install the down loaded driver and not a generic driver.
If you were not able to get this far, then a possible processor or motherboard failure is the answer; taking to a qualified repairer is recommended.

Have you checked the air vents? (inlet and outlet, also the fan itself) If they are dirty, you can clean them up using canned air. Blocked air vents may cause overheating and the laptop shuts down in minutes.
When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.
If your laptop cuts the power off (shuts down) from time to time that may be overheating problem. Dust is blocking the air outlets on the fan and processor cannot be cooled down properly. Thermal protection shuts your laptop down when it reaches some certain temperature. Most likely you will hear your fan spinning full speed before the shut down and the bottom of the laptop is hot. Best solution is to take it apart, remove the fan and the heatsink, clean them thoroughly, apply new thermal compound and assemble the laptop. Easy solution (though not the best one)is to buy compressed air can and blow it through the vents of the laptop. It will help for some time but occasionally it will start again.
HI, I haHe a Fujitsu Plasma HDTV Model PDS4233. The TV won't power ON, When i turn on the master power button the light starts flashing a red light repeatedly. I also observed that the Fans power up for about three seconds immediatly after i press the master power button, after the three seconds the fans shut OFF and the light continues to blink.. I haven't observed the light to see if there is a pattern with the blinking..
It may be the lcd or windows, press F8 on start up and see if you get a safe mode screen, if so highlight start windows with last known good configuration and allow a re-boot.
If it is the lcd you can shine a torch at the screen to see if you can see the startup screen, if so the back light may be damaged and in need of a professional repairer
