I encrypted some text using a software.the software asked me to enter a key to encrypt the text, finally the encryption was successful.a few days later i lost the copy of software that i used to encrypt the...

all the encryption softwares use different encryption algorithm.i.e. different steps to encode a file.
the other software shows that the file was not encrypted because for this software, you previously encrypted file is an original file and not encrypted file.
to decrypt the file you need that very encryption software that you used earlier.

Picture file MENC can't open in my PC

.MENC file extension is a Windows Mobile Encrypted File.

Open this link to read more about .MENC file. It say's there,

"MENC files are designed to be decrypted by the device that created the file. Therefore, MENC files can be transferred to a PC using Windows ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center, but it may not be possible to decrypt the file on the computer. Also, changing the GUID on a MENC file will disable the ability of the decryption program to properly decrypt the file.

To avoid encrypting files, go to Settings ? System or Settings ? Security on the Windows Mobile device and uncheck the box that says "Encrypt files placed on storage cards.""

I had windows xp home edition i have data of almost 20gb and i had encrypted it.due to some reason i had to reinstall my OS and now im not able to view those files as it is encrypted.so can anyone tell me...

Your going to have to locate the decryption tool that was supposed to come with the tool you used to encrypt the information. If you don't have that tool anymore you may be able to locate it on the internet. If that fails you will have to try a tool that decrypts files and hope it has the proper public key to get to your information. Most of these tools use a public key but figuring out which one is the hard part. Other than using a decryption service that will cost I don't see another option.

How to decrypt a file encrypred with Acer eData Security management when I've nog longer got an Acer system? I've decrypted some files using Acer eData Security Management, and still know the password, but...

the short answer to your question is "No", in order to decrypt any file depending on the encryption process implemented, you would need either "a private key" or both parties will need the "public" and the other should have the "private"; I advice you not to have any one scam you into saying that this is possible because unless you have a similar system that was using this type of encryption it might not work. sorry for your loss!

How I can "Decrypt data files" on Win XP Professional.

Since you reinstalled the OS, the certificate for the user has changed. You can try the following methods, but there is no guaranty it will work.
These method apply only if the computer name and users name stays the same as the original. If the machine name or the users name or the users privilege changed, these method will not work.

Only the following people can decrypt an encrypted file:
· The user who encrypted the file
· Any user who was designated as a recovery agent before the file was encrypted
· Any user who has the public key or private key for the recovery agent or the user who originally encrypted the file
· Any user who has been granted access to the file
Members of the Administrators group cannot decrypt files unless the person who encrypted the files designated them as recovery agents before encrypting the files.

Note You must be the original user who encrypted the file or a designated recovery agent for the file to follow these steps

Method 1:
To remove encryption from a file, follow these steps:
1. Use Windows Explorer to locate the encrypted file that you want to decrypt.
2. Right-click the encrypted file, and then click Properties.
3. On the General tab, click Advanced.
4. Click to clear the Encrypt contents to secure data check box, click OK, and then click OK again.
