Your problem could be one of the common ones as this set has loads of bad solder connections. Your problem is most likly the verticle output IC connections or the B+ feed componets have bad solder connection on them. In some cases though the Output IC is defective and will need to be repalce. if you have no soldid state repair or soldering skills play it safe and get a pro to assist you in this repair. It should not cost you more then a hundred bucks or so and thats the high end. good Luck, And Merry christmas.

TV has a thin white line in center of screen.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

31'sanyo tv analog has a white horizonal line thru it

There is a failure in the vertical amp section. This can be the main output IC, or any of the support components in this area.

An experienced tech can troubleshoot the set, and determine and service the fault.

T.V. has no picture

I noticed a bright horizonal line about 1/4 in.wide centered in the middle running from side to side. Audio is fine. This just all of a sudden happened it was not gradual. it is due to vertical section failure. please minimise bright to protect crt. solution. solution 1 check supply to vertical section. 2 check for ic failure in vertical section 3 check vertical output section parts. Is it fixable or dumpable?? Please HELP!!!! yes it is fixable it is common problem not major one. good luck.

Thin horizonal line in middle on dark screen

The several thin white lines at the top of the screen is the warning that the vertical output IC is not getting the boost voltage it needs to run correctly. The IC cannot operate for long like that and shorts out inside, which is when the vertical collapses altogether and you get the thin white line through the center of the screen. The good news for your son is that he had nothing to do with that, and it has nothing to do with the cable F connector. The set needs to be serviced by an experienced tech who will restore the boost supply and replace the vertical output IC, and when I do that I charge $75 but techs in your area will vary, so be sure to ask around.
