When the filter get clogged the pressure in the filter increases and there is less water flow returning to the pool.
If your filter is a sand filter, when you turn the valve to backwash and turn on the pump it reverses the water flow in the sand filter to flush the dirt out of the filter to waste. Look at the window openning in the waste pipe and keep the backwashing goinging until you see clear water.
Then turn off the pump and move the control valve to Rinse, turn on the pump for a few minutes, this returns the water flow back to normal but the water goes to waste to make sure the sand filter is clean.
Turn off the pump and move the control valve to filter and turn on the pump. This mode is the normal operating mode and the pressure gauge in the sand filter will show a drop in pressure.
Some pressure gauge shows a red section to indicate when backwashing should be carried out.

You can use this setting to manually vacuum the pool if you wish or to drain the pool of water.
The backwashing function is to clean the sand filter when it is dirty and the pressure .is too high.

SOURCE: Was wondering how to change

If you know how to place the valve into the backwash and filter positions you need to use these. The others are important at times but they are not as important. In fact another type of backwash valve has only two positions. This valve is one of the most popular valves for this function so it must not be too bad. I hope this helps.

Hayward sand filter

Reference your pressure gauge as the 12:00 position. Going clockwise-
12:00 is Filter, normal running position
2:00 is Waste, water goes from pool and exits the waste line, bypassing filter.
4:00 is Closed, used only when servicing equipment
6:00 is Backwash, reverses water through the filter and goes out the waste line.
8:00 is Recirculate, water bypasses filter and returns to pool.
10:00 is Rinse, water goes through filter and exits to waste line, used briefly after backwashing to clear sediment from filter.
Note that the "pointer," not the handle that you grab, indicates which setting you are on.

Where to find gmc denali 700c owner's manual

Check eBay. Their listing between $10 - $50, but I didn't see anything for a 700C. Still, one may pop up.

I need to know what all the settings are like bacwash filter on the valve system

FILTER is the valve position when the system is in the normal filtering mode.
When you backwash the filter you first need to turn off the pump, place in BACKWASH position, and run the motor for 45 seconds (or until the backwash water is clear). Turn off pump and run in the FILTER position for 15 seconds. Repeat twice more.
The RINSE position is to clear any dirt in initial start-up cleaning, plus resetting filter bed after backwashing.
The WASTE
position is for vacuuming directly to waste, lowering pool level, or draining the pool.
The CLOSED position is for shutting off all flow through the valve.
The RECIRCULATE position allows water to flow from the pump through the valve and directly to the pool.

You will probably only to use the FILTER, BACKWASH and maybe the RINSE valve position. The RINSE position is not as important as indicated by the fact that many backwash valves don't have a RINSE position.

I hope this helps.

Why does the material i vacum up come out the return??

If you are vacuuming a lot of debris or algae, you need to vacuum to waste. 1. You'll turn the equipment off, 2. You'll turn the valve to waste, 3. Turn the equipment back on, and 4. Vacuum the pool like you normally would. Only this time, the debris and dirty water goes out your backwash/waste line. You also don't have to backwash and rinse afterward because none of the debris went inside the filter.
Any time you vacuum up just a small amount of debris, you'll vacuum on filter and then backwash (30-60 seconds) and then rinse (about 30 seconds).

Where is the fuel pump relay on a 01 kia optima.its not in the fuse box under the hood or dash any suggestions?

If you have no wiring diagrams or experience
with electrical troubleshooting, your just guessing
and wasting time

Fuses,Relays and all the things you hear about,
just don't up & fail that offten.

You didn't say what the problem was

If it doesn't start or shuts off while driving,
the fuel pump may be worn out.

If you had an owners manual you would know where the
relays are. I don't. I would need the same info you do

Not filtering, back wash and waste won't work

Try consulting the owners manual for these pool filters. They have a whole section about the different settings on your multi-port valves. It also has a troubleshooting section.
