Slats, on each side of the top consol there is a clip. Slide a putty knife under each end and push on the clip. The top should pop up. From there you should be able to see how the end caps are removed so you can replace the touchpad panel. back.

GE Microwave keypad partially working

You have a failing membrane keypad.

On some models you can order just the membrane keypad. It's more work, but it's cheaper.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

On other models, you have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad already on it.

A YouTube video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes, is here.

Some connectors have a lock.

You can order GE parts from Sears hereimage-4235112-10659157 and the site should have helpful exploded views.

Repairing an (F2 E0 or F2 E1 error code) Failed Whirlpool Builtin Oven Keypad...

A replacement touchpad is now available from Ledgestone Technologies to replace various membrane keypad switches that are not available from the OEM.
These are in stock and can be shipped today from fixyourboard.
Find the full list of applicable models here:
Introducing the Ledgestone Technologies Touchpad
Step 1. Remove Original Plastic Bezel

You are going to re-use the original plastic bezel. Remove the panel from your oven that contains the keypad and control board. Uplug the keypad from the control board. Remove the control board from the panel (4 screws).

Step 2. Remove Original Touchpad Membrane
With a heat gun, lightly heat the original keypad from the back of the panel. This will soften the adhesive. Gently but firmly push the old keypad off the bezel by pushing from the back of the panel on the keypad window. Carefully remove the original keypad membrane element. Most of the original adhesive should pull off with the keypad. Rub off any remaining adhesive.

Step 3. Install New Ledgestone Touchpad
Remove adhesive backing paper from the Ledgestone Technologies KP1308A1 Replacement Touchpad Membrane. Align and adhere new touchpad to recess in plastic bezel. Below are examples of black on black and gray on white. Gray also looks good on bisque or almond.

Step 4. Re-install Bezel on Oven
Re-attach control board to bezel, plug-in new keypad. Re-attach bezel to oven frame. Done!

How to fix a remote

If your remote don't work out in some keypad/button only then maybe the possible problem are:

  • on the keypad/button maybe it is little bit hard or soft to press.
  • maybe the keypad/button has a short pointer inside the keypad/button so that it cannot reach the board.
  • or the keypad/button just can't reach the board because it is not in exact location.
  • the board has an ashes so it does not work.

Regarding those problem above you need to do/apply the steps below.

1. Open the remote by unscrewing the back cover of the remote.
2. Then you will see the remote control board ( the remote
control board is the one with lots of many circle, colored: black
with green) try to remove it slowly.
3. Then find any cotton thing like cotton buds and also four pieces
of small hard paper.
Clean the internal remote control board using the cotton
material/cotton buds.
4. Then try to have/put a thing like a small four pieces of hard paper
inside, underneath the board in both four sides (it should be balance
by each other side) of it then try to see if the keypad/button is
being reach by it.
5. Then if done, when assembling it make sure that the board is well
done/place in the right position and exactly in the front of its
assigned value/number.
6. Then when done assembling try to test it in actual if it works.

I hope this steps could be helpful..If not maybe the battery is old enough to use and need to replace for a new one or some connection near the battery has cut off, if it is the problem just contact me for some/other solution..If this solution helps you I would be very glad to here it!! Thank you!!

Replacing the keypad

A full model number would be very helpful, but since you've not posted it, we have to just give generic advice.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here.

If on your model you have to order the separate membrane keypad, here is a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

If you can order the control panel frame with a keypad already installed, it's much simpler.

In this second case, at our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Once the controller assembly is loose from the oven, you need to remove the keypad strip, then take your board out of the old frame and put it in the new one.

Some connectors may have a lock.

Code f2E3

It appears that this code is a code for "keypad spill" so it somehow may have gotten liquid inside the keypad. It may be as simple as removing the face panel and wiping clean the keypad and putting it together, or you may end up needing to purchase an entire keypad and installing.

Garage keypad not working. Installed new battery, reset code and it worked once.

You normally would not have to reset the code after replacing the battery. It remembers the code. I think you have a bad keypad or maybe the battery or battery connection is bad. Even a new battery can be faulty at times.

Read-out shows F3

On a GE microwave, "F3" means a bad membrane keypad.

You can order a membrane keypad here and install it yourself according to this handy illustrated guide, or we can install it for you.

If the keypad is not available separately, you can order a control panel frame assembly here, which comes with a new keypad already installed.

But since this was posted under Jenn-Air, that confuses the issue. If yours is a Jenn-Sir, please post a new help request here on FixYa and include the full model number from the tag, or contact us for a free estimate and tips.

Tricky touch pad on Sharp R530 es microwave oven

There are two options here:

1. Order a new control panel frame which has the keypad, trim piece and door button already installed and swap your control boards into it.

The original part number FPNLCB346MRK0 has been replaced by part # FPNLCB346MRK0B and it runs $58.28 plus shipping.

2. Disassemble your control panel frame, peel off the old keypad and stick a new one on.

Even though the keypad alone runs only $35.66, this job takes a lot of time and labor.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace just the keypad yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

Whichever option you choose, we have the service manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here to help you.

You will need the
free Acrobat Reader to view or print it in case you don't have it already.

GE Spacemaker XL Microwave

Sounds like a failing or wet keypad or *maybe* the controller.

Is it possible that some spray cleaner accidentally got into the controls?

I always recommend that users spray the cleaner on a soft cloth (not on the keypad itself) then wipe the control panel off.

Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.

Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.

If it does not dry out over time, it may need to be manually dried or blown out.

The keypad may be damaged or worn out, or control unit may be damaged.

This can usually be fixed economically, but please look over this response and then I'd be happy to help further.

Please rely back to this thread if possible when leaving replies.
