If the comp comp doesnt go past compaq logo or if it beeps, pls reseat the all the RAM cards and any PCI video cards and the CMOS battery and check.
Pls remove all the RAM cards and then turn on the comp. If it doesnt beep, then it could be an issue with the motherboard.
If it beeps then try with one RAM at a time.
Hope this helps.

It is not the power supply or the cables! It is a defect Gateway has in the motherboard. Called support to find this out.
To get around this problem, unplug the power supply cord at the tower, then hold down the start button for 20 seconds, then replace the cord at the tower. Then turn it on as usual. This worked for me! Problem is u have to do this each time.
We discovered that by leaving our Sims Online game running when we are done with the comp, it doesnt go into standby mode. So we just leave comp on with game running, lol. Sheesh. Gateway suks. Gonna get a new comp..... Hopes this helps!

The first beep could be a beep code, letting you know that something is wrong. or, it could be the signal that all is well and that the computer has found everything and is ready to boot. does it usually beep when you start it up or just this one time?

Hi im Joan Hall.I have a suggestion. Please check your IDE Cables. When u reboot your computer it should say detecting IDE Cables. If it beeps that usally means that your computer has an error.See if its not the IDE Cables because they will cause your computer to beep and not boot up right.
