DVDR-530H malfunction I have been using the recorder for several weeks successfully. Now when I insert a recordable disc, it immediately ejects the disc. I have also used it as a player for both discs I have recorded on the HDD and copied, as well as commercial discs so I know that the problem is not one of compatiblity. Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem and possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. An additional comment -- while the machine has been exposed to the normal house environment, there has been no abnormal house repair activity which might create a dust problem. Unfortunately, the nearest Pioneer certified repair center is a good 2 hours plus car ride away and so I felt I should look for a simple solution first, if one existed.....

If the unit will not recognize any discs, then I would suspect a weak laser pickup, assuming the lens is clean.

My DVD recorder has started to give error's after a dvd is recorded and at times will not finalize the dvd after it is recorded

There are a few possible reasons why your JVC 150 DVD recorder may be unable to finish a disc or is displaying an error message indicating that a disc is an ad:
Compatibility of the disc: Not all DVD recorders are compatible with all DVDs.
Your JVC 150 DVD recorder might not be compatible with the DVDs you've used for years.
A dirty lens may prevent the DVD recorder from adequately reading the disc.
Even if a lens cleaner helped, if the issue still exists, it might be required to have the lens cleaned by a trained expert.
The CD might have been scratched, damaged, or otherwise corrupted, rendering it unreadable.
Firmware issue: The firmware of the DVD recorder may be outdated or malfunctioning, causing it to not be able to read or finalize certain discs
Hardware issue: There may be an issue with the hardware of the DVD recorder such as a malfunctioning laser head or reading mechanism that is preventing it from reading or finalizing discs.

I am attempting to burn a disc off of idvd and after inserting the ativa disc it ejects it and says to insert a recordable disc. Any ideas why? The disc are new just opened.

Try another blank disk. When you put it in, do not click on any prompts or anything like that. It is possible something got burned on the bottom of the disk. It is also possible, you need to use a CDROM and not a DVDRROM. Also, if you look at the bottom of the disk, you will see a section of a different color starting from the middle and moving out if there is any information on the disk.

Disc indicates "disc full" after only a couple minutes of recordi

Brand of disk or bad laser alignment can cause this. if you have changed brands of disks go back to the others and if you have not then laser alignment is the most likely cause and can be fixed by a certified technician in this field.

Repairing disc message won't go & DVD disc won't eject

By pressing the Power button for >10 seconds you can force the unit to turn off. Immediately as the unit does, press the disk eject button and the defective DVD can be removed. Don't put it back in, or the problem may repeat!

Problems finalizing discs

Check to see if you are using 16x media.  If you are you need to get a firmware upgrade from Toshiba.  Contact their support number listed inside of the manual.  They will ship you a dvd to insert into the unit.
