Mouse thinks its alive (GE wireless optical 97990 rev.4)

My system is a Toshiba running Vista and is less than 6 months old.
Problems with mouse are:
1) If not in use, it occasionally wanders the screen, usually to the left.
2) it jumps all around the screen if I'm using it or not
3) whole sentences disappear
4) it backs up and starts typing in the middle of the sentence
5) it freezes in place and when it comes back (on its own) it jumps (re-appears) anywhere on the page
Now then:
1) when it works, it works well
2) turns itself off if not in use
3) batteries die no quicker than in other devices (I use nicads)

Could be signal interference or overloaded usb port. Move receiver around to get a more direct signal, and notice any other devices in use like phones. Use alone without other usb devices plugged in and/or buy usb hub with power adapter. DO NOT buy passive usb hub with no additional power.

You need to install the radio receiver to the computer via usb. then sync the devices. Usually a button on the receiver or mouse should do it.

I have #97990. The batteries are done within a half of a day, even when I switch it off

Replace the rechargeable batteries. Even rechargeable batteries only can be recharged so many times and then they will not hold a good charge.

GE Wireless "Malfunction" "Unknown Device"

Does the mouse and/or keyboard have a "connect" button on the bottom of either? Try restarting your PC, then, if you have installed new batteries, and the mouse/keyboard is still not connected, try the "Connect" button if any.

Mouse doesnt entirely work, only clicks.

stupid question but have you tried replacing the batteries? it does honestly sound like its got power issues which are usually just that. give that a shot with some fresh batteries and re-synch the units (by pressing the button on the reciever then on the mouse).

97990 Rev. 4

Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it to Reset/Connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly.
If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud

Some mice eat batteries like they are nothing. I myself have a logitec wireless mouse and i must replace the batteries every two weeks. I would suggest getting another mouse.

Model 97990 Rev4

First, change your batteries. Next, make sure that after you push both link buttons (try to press them as close to simultaneously as you can) that you click the mouse button. Otherwise it won't actually link.
