Change your input settings using the remote control input button. Scroll through the inputs until you get the picture on the big screen. Hope this helps.
It would help to see a pic or video. The fact that hitting the top side clears up the picture leads me to believe that you may have a bad LCD panel tab. If this is the case, the only true fix is to replace the screen, BIG $$$
If the button on the television remote that is meant to adjust the picture size i.e. wide or format/view mode button is not working then you need to adjust your cable box. There is a hd zoom# button on the cable remote towards the bottom that will fix this or sometimes the button will say format or aspect. You may have to go into the cable box's settings and choose crop 1080i or some other picture format setting that will keep the heads from being chopped off. You may have your cable box on the wrong resolution for your television. Your cable box may be connected to the television in two places, and your television might be on the wrong source/input for hd viewing.
i think you should call them first, time warner, i don't see any problem with your unit.you try evrything and only this time warner is the only problem.they are sending incompatible tv formats.
IF THIS IS A LCD---TURN ON, AS NORMAL AND HAVE A SIGNAL INPUT,,CABLE ,SATELLITE CONNECTED TO THE ANTENNA INPUT .MAKE SURE YOU HEAR SOUND.. HOLD A LIGHT (THE BRIGHTER THE BETTER) IN FRONT OF THE THE SCREEN ('BOUT 3 INCHES)--IF YOU SEE A DIM PICTURE---BAD SCREEN AND THATS BIG BUCKS---IF STILL NO PICTURE--CIRCUIT BOARDS AND USUALLY THATS BIG BUCKS!! GOOD LUCK
Normallly, if the picture size button on the remote for the television does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made.
For example:
A Motorola Cable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen or zoom when an analog signal is detected.
Some Dish Network boxes have Size buttons on their remotes and also in their main menu.
It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the types of the peripherals.
Hope this helps.
