Oven does not light

When I turn on the oven, the display goes to PrE (preheat mode) but the oven does not heat up. The ceramic igniters are cold, there is no smell or sound of gas. I hear a relay click in the control panel when I press Start. It is also dead in Broil mode: no gas, cold igniter. The range top works properly, so there is gas and electric. I could not find a schematic. Thank you in advance for your help.

I am having the same problem with my Spectra gas oven XL44. It is about 5 years old. It will not ignite for the oven. After many tries I did get the Broil to ignite, but not the oven.

I have the same problem, oven was working and then just cut out, broiler doesn't work, and stove top does. I had a half cooked pot pie. Did anyone actually figure out what it was?

Haven't checked to broiler yet, but I assume the ignitor is the problem. Can a lady with no previous experience repairing appliances do a job like replacing an ignitor? Can't afford a professional repair so it's either do it myself or use a microwave in place of an oven.

Even if the ingitor glows, and the oven wont lite, the odds are that the ingitor is bad. it must draw 3.2 amps to open the gas valve. the only way to test the ignitor is with an amp probe. replacing the ingnitor is about 90% a sure thing.

Mine does the same... There was smoke for a bit coming from the range for a bit and the breaker tripped. I removed the control panel and lifted the relay daughter board and seen where the burnt component is. I'm ordering a new control panel today.

Is preheating this toaster oven necessary? How do you preheat?

Preheat is helpful when you're not cooking for more than a few minutes. If you're going to cook for 20 minutes or more, then most likely you don't need to pre-heat.

To pre-heat, simply turn your toaster-oven on 10 minutes before you put the food in.

Oven takes forever to preheat

The way the oven works is like so:
1) User sets the desired temperature
2) Power is sent to the ignitor
3) The ignitor is then energized, drawing 3.2 amps of current
4) When the 3.2 amps is drawn, the gas safety valve is allowed to open and gas flows into the burner assembly in the oven.
5) This gas is then ignited, causing the oven to heat.
6) As the oven heats up, the oven sensor, which is the metal rod located at the top on the rear oven wall, converts the heat into an electrical signal, relaying this information to the main control which in turns displaying the temperature.
(In models with a dial thermostat, there won't be a sensor, though a metal wire with a bulbous end will be present, which is actually connected to the thermostat.)

Frigidaire range model #FEFLFSA, is the top element

When you say Top Element, I assume you mean the TOP OVEN ELEMENT, correct? You have bake, and broil? Bake is usually on the bottom, and broil is the top. In order to have the oven operate correctly, the top and bottom elements may come on at start, in order to do as you just said, "Preheat the oven". This will insure an even distribution of the heat in the oven box and result in better cooking expierences. I would not be alarmed or concerned if the top element came on for a short period to pre-heat in preparation for cooking. This is normal. If the top element stayed on, and did not shut off on bake after the pre-heat period, then I would say you have a control board problem. However, if it comes on and then goes out, except when you are broiling, then I would say that this is normal for your stove, and the pre-heat mode of operations. Your owners manual should advise you of this very process in the guide section to how to use the oven. I hope this helps and that all your cakes, pies, souffle's and the like are......delicious. I'm sure they are. I hope this helps and eases your concerns. Kindest regards, Slats.
