I install my ASUS 22x Internal CD/DVD Burner into my Dell dimension 3000 P.C.using window XP. The ASUS 22x Internal CD/DVD Burner is not being recognized. Please help.
First try a system restore back to the last date which you remember that it worked. If that doesnt help, you must find out what cd/dvd burning software is in your computer. It may have been corrupted. Oddly enough, you don't need drivers for the CD/DVD drives. They aren't even recognized unless you have a good non-microsoft burning program. Find out what burning software you have--download Belarc Advisor, a free program (Google it) which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model and serial numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), but will also inform you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what you have, if it came with the computer, you have to seek an upgrade at the computer manufacturer's website, as it may be a special program not related to the burning software purchased from the software manufacturer---go to their website for upgrades.

GO INTO YOUR ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS AND DELETE THE APPLE UPDATE .... REBOOT ....AND TRY THAT ?!

Un-plug your device.
Check your device manager for flags or other devices.
After all is OK, re-boot machine, plug-in device and it should install drivers.
If you do not have a conflicts or un-known devices, it should load with no problems.
If it does not, it may be bad, try it on another unit.

Try installing the drivers from Asus for your EXACT model of computer. Many of Microsoft's drivers are generic in nature and do not take advantage of the hardware installed by manufacturers because they can't always "talk" to their hardware.
Go to Asus's web site, type in your model number under the "Download Drivers" section and it will take you to a page where you can find the specific driver for your drive and hopefully get it back to seeing both CDs and DVDs.
