My laptop has no sigh of existing wireless adaptors as before

I used wireless a few times before using my pc, but recently I wasn't able to do so. It only works by cable now, directly from the service provider. I had a couple of friends take a look at it and they suggested that I try locate the manual (for my HP pavillian dv6000) on the net (since I haven't a physical copy of my own) to see wether the manual can help diagnose the problem, but I thought before doing so, I will check with you guys first.

I now wait in great anticipation for your professional advise.

yours. concerned customer!

First make sure the wireless switch is not set to off on the laptop. Second check the device manager (start->control panel->system->hardware->device manager) and verify that the device is not disabled or in conflict and that the driver is installed (it wont have any red x's or question marks or yellow circles with black exclamation points). I think those models had a bug in the bios that made the wireless stop recognizing correctly. Try updating the bios. You can go to hp's website (support.hp.com) to download latest drivers and bios and flash utility. They also have the service manual that will tell you how to disassemble the unit to get to the wireless card if it needs to be replaced.

What wireless adaptor would you recommend for Acer Travel Mate 212TX

SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION
First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A USB wireless adapter uses the same 3G mobile/cell phone network and can be separately or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses a wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick.
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with a DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD. http://www.fixya.com/support/r6165994-setting_up_broadband_connection

Wireless adaptor broken!?

Alot of times you can go into the properties of your wireless card and clear from the list all the access points you have connected to recently and in the past and it will help. Also check to be sure the wireless card is turned on.I've found that internal wireless cards tend to fail after a while due to heat and use.I would replace the card if clearing it of it's memory doesn't work. Also check to make sure that both antenna's are connected properly to the card in case they came loose.I tend to think the card is bad though.

NETGEAR Wireless G USB Adaptor Problems

I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<" yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)

Hi grade laptop boot problem

crashing a few times in order to boot can be caused by corrupted boot files that Windows required.
Try do a "scan for bad sectors" checkdisk (Right click C: in My Computer, click Properties. Click Tools tab and then Check Now button, tick both option boxes and it should ask to reboot for the bad sector check. 8c484d1.jpg
You can also use HDD Regenerator to fix corrupted files. Read my other posts for details.

Can I use my ATT air card with my Toshiba Portege M200 tablet pc?

I have owned several tablet PC's and all of them (including my most recent Toshiba) worked just fine with the existing wi-fi card. Please be clear, however, that AT&T wireless air card service and "wi-fi" are two different things.
Your AT&T card pulls internet service over cellular connections, and your wi-fi card connects to a local hot spot (if available) or your own wireless internet access.
First of all, be sure that you have an active AT&T laptop connect account and then follow these steps:
Power on your laptop. Insert the AT&T wireless air card into an available USB slot. Wait a few moments (this may take several minutes some times), and the card will typically start attempting to install itself and its software. If you have any trouble with this, ATT provides free installation tech-support at the following site:
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/solutions/wireless-laptop/modem-cards.jsp

You may also have them contact you at your convenience by going to this page and filling out the form:
https://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/b2b/contact_us.jsp?wtLinkName=ContactATT&wtLinkLoc=RN

Hope this helps!

Hi there please help me out here, i have got a new pc prob 4 mnths old now but it there isnt no wireless on it, can yu please tell me what i have to do as i have bougt laptops for my kids bout the router...

To my knowledge, this laptop does not have an in-build wireless card. You will need to purchase a wireless USB adaptor such as pixel-clr.gif Netgear WPN111 or a D-Link WUA-1340. You can go into any computer store and ask or a wireless USB adaptor. They're fairly inexpensive ($10 - $50).

Simply load the drivers onto the laptop and plug it in. Scan for your network and connect. The manual that accompanies the USB adaptor will give you all the details you need for this.
