I need to replace a, I'll call it a washer (I think it was rubber-would that be a gasket?), that allows the water from the tank to fill the main unit for heating. I think it fit into the stem that allows the water to flow from the tank.
At the end of last winter season it fell out onto the floor and I couldn't figure out where it came from, so I put it somewhere (can't find it now) and put the machine up for the summer. So now I've figured out that without this washer/gasket, the part that sticks up from the main unit like a pencil (about an inch long) now forms a seal with the part on the tank that supposed to allow the water to enter the unit and no water enters.
My question is, what is this part called and where can I get one? Also, did another company take over Slant Fin? I would hate to toss out a $100 machine because of a 2 cent part. Thanks, Michael
Slant fin sold the humidifier unit to honeywell. I bought a Slant fin GF 350 and got another identical unit under the Enviracaire name. I also needed just the gasket since mine was disintegrating with age. I just had to spend almost $40 on 2 replacement tank caps for my older slant fin unit. From what the different part web sites said, you can't buy just the gasket, you have to buy the entire tank cap for around $16. Shame, but I couldn't see trashing the unit when a new unit of same quality is over $100. Do a web search for "humidifier replacement parts" and look for "tank replacement cap"
Slant fin sold the humidifier biz to another company. info at the slant/fin site http://www.slantfin.com/contact.php
