Scanning problem with a CanoScan8600F

I'm using Windows XP. I installed a CanoScan 8600F, flatbed scanner about a year ago and had no problems until recently with any of its functions. Now, using Toolbox 5.0, whenever a function is selected (Copy; OCR; PDF; etc) I get response: ''Unable to scan. Make sure there is enough space on the target disk''. As per the manual, I've cleared the Temp folder and done ''Disk Cleanup'' to no effect. If I use Presto! Page Manager I can scan with no problem.
Any thoughts?

Exact same problem. I've reinstalled the software. No change.

Exact same problem - also, can't find any online help from Canon. Thought it might be because I run Vista Ultimate, but I think it's just sloppy work from Canon's programmers.

I have a Canon LIDE 600F I'm running Windows XP and I can only scan a couple of times before I get a message insufficient space on target disc. When that happens I have to reinstall the software which is time consuming. Any ideas??

Receive "cannot scan because the original may not be set correct.

Is your Scanner locked ? If yes then you will see there's a solid plastic backing on the inside of the lid that needed to be removed. Also remove all protective plastic too.

Lost setup CD

Hi,

go to the canon website. There you find all the drivers and setup programs that were on the disk for download.

I did the search for you. Go to this link:

CanoScan 8600F support

Select your operating system and you will see download links appear.

CanoScan 8600F

Download the Scanner Driver here for Vista
http://driverscollection.com/?H=CanoScan%208600F&By=Canon

Click Windows Vista and then Download the right choice one for you.

If your don't know if your Vista is either 32-bit or or 64-bit download the second one which will work for either of the 2.

Good luck

Will not scan photos, only slides

Where are you scanning from? Do you get an error? If scanning from Toolbox, check the box that says to use ScanGear or use the Scanner driver. Then make sure it is not set for Film as the select source.

Downloading software (Twain??)

The download website for your scanner is here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=8008

A TWAIN driver is simply a generic scanner software driver that your specific Canon software can hook into and use.

I recommend starting with this one and see if it installs the TWAIN driver you need:

"CanoScan Toolbox v2.2.3 for Windows 98/Me/2000/XP"
