Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

Oven window There is a dark streak running down the inside of the windoe of the oven door. I recall it appearing after the self-cleaning mode of the oven. It is impossible to clean/remove because it is between the window pane of the oven door. Please advise how to remove this stain. Thank you.

Having the same problem. How can this be fixed?

  • ByllD Jun 17, 2008

Both the microwave and the oven doors look terrible, but the problem is between the glass and there is no obvious way to clean it. This is the first time in many years of glass doors that I have confronted this problem. Am I lucky, or is this a product of some manufacturing change in the last few years?

Why are there brown/white streaks inside oven door glass after using self cleaner 1 time?

Thank you for your post, friend!

From my understanding after you used the self-clean feature on your Frigidaire range you now have brown and white streaks on the indoor glass. Typically streaks can be removed by cleaning the interior glass. Normally it is recommended to have a professional clean the inside glass but a consumer can do it as well. Use caution when following the steps some pieces can have sharp edges. You will need to have a Phillips head screwdriver or small quad bit driver.

A. Refer to owners guide for instructions on how to remove oven door.

B. With door in broil stop position lift door assembly off hinges.

C. Lay door on table, position so that handle hangs freely over edge of table

D. Remove 2 screws and washers that secure handle to lining assembly.

E. Remove 8 screws that attach textured steel door wrapper trim to lining assembly 3 at top, 3 at bottom, 1 on each side

F. Lift door lining up and out of wrapper trim assembly.

G. Lay lining assembly on table with wool shield/inner part of lining facing up.

H. Remove 2 glass clamps via 2 screws per clamp. These clamps attach innermost clear glass to wool shield.

I. Lift out center clear glass from wool shield, this glass just lays onto the wool shield and is held in place by the glass/ clamps in item H.

J. Clean each glass with appropriate cleaner.

K. One glass that remains in door lining assembly can at this time be cleaned without further disassembly the lining assembly.

L. Reassemble in reverse order.

Hopefully this is helpful. -Matt

How do i operate the self cleaning function

Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.

Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.

When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.

there are switches under the cooktop that go bad frequently. i do not recommend ever using the self clean mode in an oven. the oven gets so hot that things have a tendency to melt because they dont build stuff like they used to. there is inadequate insulation in modern ovens. use easy off and follow the label directions. it'll be cheaper in the long run, trust me.

Dirty streaks between glass front

depends on type of unit, but most separate by opening oven door and removing the screws around the perimeter of the door, be careful reinstalling as to get inner and outer glass re-positioned right along with insulation, this is especially critical because the outer glass can't withstand self-clean temps and will break
