HP officejet pro l7680 all in one

The printer ran out of yellow ink which i replaced, it now prints mostly in yellow even when i only want to do black and white copies or faxes etc. I replaced the yellow again thinking it must be a problem with the cartridge but the problem still exists. i have cleaned the print heads many times and done the align printer without any joy. Pls can you help?

Most likely the print head has failed and the black is not printing which is causing the printer to have issues. Talk to HP as I guess printheads have warranty or simply change the yellow/black printhead. Or if all of these fail give the machine to HP to get you a new one as this is not right. I hope this helps.

My HP OfficeJet L7680 just stopped printing ANYTHING black. I change the black cartridge twice.I cleaned the printer heads, aligned it and still it will no longer print anyhting in black. When I do a test...

It sounds like your printer setup has changed to generating black by MIXING the color inks... if you run out of the cyan and yellow it will do red in spite of how many changes you make of the black cartridge.

Investigate the setup for the printer to make sure it is set for black from the black cartridge.

Printhead Problem:

Have you tried to replace the black/yellow printhead? This is not the same as the ink cartridges, but it is located in the compartment under and to the right of the scanner lid.
Here is HP's link.

L7680 printer was working fine. It stopped printing black but will print all other colors. I just replaced the black ink cartridge and it still won't print black. Do you know the fix for this?

If you print primarily black, your black/yellow printhead may have worn out and needs to be replaced. Go to start, printers and faxes, select the L7680 and then select properties. Print a test page and run the troubleshooter to clean the nozzles and lines. If it's not the nozzles or lines, search for C9381A on google and purchase a new printhead it should be about $70.

L7680 won't print black

Hi,

Unfortunately it's highly likely that your black printhead is clogged due to the conditions you are using the printer in (ie: warm, dry, air-conditioned?).

I get this a lot in hot offices and school classrooms.

The only solution I've found that works long term is to use a dyebase black ink instead of the pigment ink that HP provide but this obviously means you would have to source a 3rd party ink supplier with ink of this type.

In the mean time a shorter term solution is to purchase a new black/yellow printhead and follow the process for changing the printhead for this new one.

Hope that helps.
