Trimmer malfunction Up until a few weeks ago my shaver and trimmer worked well. But now if I use the trimmer, rather than trimming my hair, the blades put at it and try to rip them out rather than cut them. i can't say I've noticed but the trimmer doesn't seem to be moving fast enough to cut the hair. I'm not sure whether that is the problem or whether it's that or if the blades aren't sharp enough or what is goin on. All I know if that it is pretty sore if I try to trim my beard! Can you offer any help? Cheers Dan

I had the same problem of the trimmer tugging rather than cutting, so took the whole razor for repair, and they replaced the trimmer unit; however, when I looked at the spare they'd removed, it was clear the malfunction was due to a defect in the design, which allows beard hair to accumulate in the mechanism out of reach, clogging it up; which probably means that the unit did not need replacing at all, just removing and cleaning.
The PROBLEM is removing the unit! I tried and was unable, so resorted to the repair store. Ergo €35 for replacement and labor.

My clipper part has never worked, it is had to tell but the blades don't really seem to be moving at all. The wonderful folks at Braun claim there is nothing wrong with it (apparently it is designed to just rip and tug at your beard without cutting anything.) Now, of course, my warranty is up so I have effectively paid a stupid amount for decent shaver with no clipper functions.

Hi,

I had same problem, at first I could not find out how to seperate the small silver cover with the on/off switch from the rest. After removing the 3 torx screws, 1 at the power entrance, and 2 under the shaver blade. You can remove the black cover. I also removed 2 more torx screws to separate the battery, from the rest, (don't know if thats really necessary). The silver covers are 'clicked' into eachother. When lifted the part where the battery part was screwed into, the silver parts became partly seperated, then you can pull the part apart.
I cleaned/washed the trimmer part with wd40 contact spray.
Assembled the parts, and made sure that the little plastic nodge was came into the trimmer.
Cleaned it all (removed leaking wd 40) and works fine again.
Hopefully this is helpfull to anyone.

Goodluck,
Adrian

    Simpler is smarter! Thanks
I intuitively made the same steps until I stopped when I wasn't able to easily separate the silver parts, and affraid about breaking something; then looked for some help on the web and found your helpfull post and finished the work (40 minutes, including disassemble, cleaning, reassemble and testing).

This usefull information helped me to find the problem. I have lubricated the trimmer but it does ot work yet. I will wait one more day and will try again. In any case, the only screw that must be removed to open the case, is at the power entrance. All other are for disassembling other parts and/or cleaning (a good idea at this point). Good luck.

on www.service.braun.com, I found a repair shop not too far from where I live (www.newetp.be)
They professionally repaired mine for about EUR25 (if I remember correctly). They replaced the trimmer
Took them a couple of weeks to get the spare parts but it works "like new" now

Guys no screw driver, no nothing. The only thing I used was 2 plastic cards, a biro and some super glue.
Made a short video for you - hope it helps.

Same problem: Braun Cruzer 3: Trimmer blades don't cut (move) anymore.

I have now bought three of these razors during the last 8 years. Two of them broke down with the same problem (trimmer blades not moving anymore) after abt 2 years each. When I bought the third one, I was convinced Braun would have solved the issue by then. But recently also the trimmer of my third Braun Cruzer 3 broke down. I had it repaired during the two year warranty (Belgium)
I took one of them apart to see if I can't fix it, but I can't disassemble the trimmer part. On one machine, the smaller trimmer still seems to work, but when flipped around to use the main trimmer blades, these do not seem to be moving anymore.
Did anyone successfully repair this problem?
Did anyone have any luck disassembling the trimmer?
tnx,
chris
