Hi, i have a brother mfc -240c and it is saying that print unable 49 but I already got the paper jam out, and I got the tiny piece of paper left in the left gear of the printer but still I receive the same error. Can you help me? What can I do? I was thinking if only I knew where the paper sensor is I could blind it so it wouldn't say any paper jam. Hope to get a reply soon.

Error code 36 is generally because of a paper jam that was not cleared. Remove the rear jam cover (the plastic cover in the back center of the machine)and the paper tray and check for any pieces of paper. Sometimes just a scrap will remain, but it's enough to cause the machine to not work.
Once you've replaced the covers, if the jam code does not reset, turn the machine off and then back on.
Unable to print is usually a paper jam either in the far right or the far left of the carriage assembly, you need a flashlight to inspect for paper scraps caught at either end of the carriage travel area.
Usually small pieces of paper are jammed at the print head area. Lift up the scanner and see if you can find the paper at the print head parking area, clear the paper . If you can't find the paper, remove the scanner cables, then the scanner. You will see 2 screws at the rear and one near the USB connection. Another 3 screws towards the front will remove the front panel. Under the panel remove 4 screws and the two panel harnesses. The is a speaker harness which you must remember to attach back later (most people don't remember to put back). Lift up the top cover and you can see the whole engine. Clear any pieces of paper that might be there.
