Minolta fax 2600 has polygonal error on display whats wrong

Polygon error. There is a LASER inside the machine which hits a 5 sided minor spinning at about 35000 rpm. That minor is spun my the polygon motor. More then likely you have a bad print head. That is what the entire assy. LASER/motor/Minor/Sensors are called. Power off/then on if it comes back have a technician looks at it.

Polygon is the motor that is located inside the FAX print hear which is where the LASER is located. Have a technician (Konica Minolta) have him check the connection between the print head and its control board. If not need a new print head or worse the control board for the whole machine.. The polygon motor is what makes the LASER beam move across the drum to place the image on the drum, it travel around 35.000 RPM, you mite heard it as very high pitch as gets up to speed. So the LASER and the Motor are inside the PRINT HEAD.

First check the connection between main control board and print head. The Print Head house the LASER and a motor called the polygon motor which is use to spread the laser bean across the drum. IT move at about 35,000 rpm some time you can hear it when machine turn s on, so check the connection if good get a new print head worse case the control board is bad

Not 100%, but I would say this referring to the laser unit.
Switch off/on...if no joy, it's probably an engineer job.

The malfunction code is for a Polygon Motor malfunction. The motor that shoots the laser beam across the drum

You have a bad printhead unit(laser unit) . The polygon mirror is not rotating within a specific amount of time. I recommend you to replace your fax unless your willing to spend between 200 to 500 dollars.

Yeah, pretty much s(****). That message means the polygon mirror in the laser unit is not spinning up.

If you want to try to fix it, it's a square black box under the top covers. You can take it apart and oil the mirror shaft.
