Question about Kenmore 22442 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer won't stop filling

The machine keeps filling with water regardless of the position of the water level switch. It seems to me that either the switch itself must be bad or that there is some sort of sensor that is disconnected or needs to be replaced. I found a wiring diagram on the back of the machine but doesn't tell me much. Removing the back to access the switch seems to be a task in itself. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.

kenmore 80 washer wont stop filling, I was told by an aftermarket parts reseller that it was either the vacuum line going to the water level switch or the switch itself...can you verify or add your input...thanks

Have you tried cleaning the hose that connects to the switch. That was my problem. When I went to clean it there was actually a hole in it. So try that.

Won't stop filling up. Water continues to flow without stopping for cycles

Hello,

Their are 2 possibilites causing it to overflow

1) the water inlet valve that the hoses from the house plumbing attach to is sticking open, when it sticks it will stick open regardless if thier is power to the machine or not,so to determine if that is the problem, start the washer and quickly unplug it,if the water continues to fill, that valve is sticking

2) the water level switch is defective,do the same as far as starting it,if the fill stops when power disconected it's the water level switch that is in need of replacement

Good luck, i hope this helps.

Keeps filling with water when turned on

A lot of wahing machines use a bunch of micro-switches to turn the various solenoids on and off. If your washer has that type of switch, it could be sticking, subsequently sending an "on" signal to the fill solenoid.

I have a 4 year old Maytag Performa washing machine. Regardless

Hi!!! You seem to have a bad water level switch..If you turn on the water and water just fills in and doesn't stop then you have a bad water level switch..If you just turn it on and water enters then you have a bad water valve..Good luck..

My Maytag Washer keeps running water and won't stop.

regardless of machine being on or not???sounds like a faulty water inlet valve youll need to replace the valve..

If the water level just overfills and floods over the top of washer but turns off when the unit is shut off, then it sounds like a bad fill switch.
