The 6p, or at least the ones I?ve seen, have several LEDs so I?m assuming the top one is what is orange. I?ve included the link to the LED codes, however, the three possibilities are top cover open, there is a paper jam or the print cartridge is missing or not installed correctly. LED codes: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpl04061&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=25477&prodTypeId=18972 I would: - try reseating the cartridge - try replacing the cartridge with a new HP one if available. - try blowing out the paper path, could be dust so something small you can?t see. If that fails then its possible you have a failed sensor or electronics board.

My HP LaserJet 6p is not printing/communcating sudenly from/with Word, and the system reports low memory in the printer. Could you, please, advise, what can help here? Thanks and best regards, Martin P.

First thing I would try is a cold reset. Steps are here:

HP 5P & 6P
Cold reset:
Turn the power off and hold the reset button (button closest to the back of the printer) for LESS than 20 seconds while turning the printer on.
Reset the NVRAM:
Turn the power off and hold the reset button for MORE than 20 seconds while turning the printer on..
If your still having an issue, unplug the printer overnight.

Please get back to me if this does not resolve this.

Laserjet 6p has amber error light on and there is paper in the tray, won't print

Not sure which of the 5 lights you mean, so here is a solution for all of them:

If this doesn't help, let me know which scenario fits from the above page and i can help you further.

Need to purchase a power cord and the cord that connects the printer to the computer for a HP LaserJet 6p Printer, Model C3980A. [email protected]

Power Cord = 8120-6805
Parallel Cable = 5063-1254

With these part numbers you should be able to purchase them anywhere that sells HP parts.

The top orange light is on

2 possibilities

1 It is trying to make more than 1 copy and the second one is jamming as it's picking up the paper ( clean tires)

2 it's set to legal instead of letter.
