I have norton 1993 and I have an error virus definition. I have ran live update but it did not fix it. How do I fix my problem?

There are many reasons for the issue.
Please check if the computer's date and time is running correctly, if not please adjust it and run a live update.

If that does not work, please download Norton intelligent updater from www.norton.com/iu and click on download definitions. Please select the first file if your computer is a 32 bit operating system or select the 4th file. Save it to your desktop. Once the download is complete, double click the downloaded file. It will update your Virus definitions.
If that also doesn't work, you need to reinstall the Norton program on your computer.
To reinstall, follow these steps:
>> download the latest version of the Norton program from the link www.norton.com/nis11
>> save the file to your desktop
>> Once the download is complete, double click the downloaded icon
>> it will remove the existing version while re-installing
>> Once the removal of the older version is complete, you will need to restart the computer
>> after the restart, please click on the downloaded file once more if it does not come up automatically
>> install the Norton program
>> activate the program with the product key
>> your issue will be fixed

This can be resolved by installing and scanning the computer using Norton 360.

After downloading Norton 360 double click on the installation file and follow on screen instruction to install the file.
Click on skip if it ask for product key.
After installing Norton 360 open Norton 360 and click on live Update to download latest virus definition on to your computer. This will helps norton to find and heal the up to date virus.

After running live update perform complete system scan using Norton.

Note:

• Uninstall existing Antivirus on your computer before installing Norton 360.
• Your system performance will be little low for about 7 to 10 days after installing Norton, after this period it will become Normal.
• This is trial version which will provide you 30 days validity but even 1 year subscription does the same task. You can install whatever antivirus if you wish to switch over.

live updates usually have problems like this but its very rare. try to do the manual update for your virus definitions instead. go to the website and download the latest virus definitions there. when done, you can manually update your antivirus by doing this.

It may be due to error in the connection or may be the error in their server.

so you can download it as a update package separately.

This is only the virus definitions that get updated daily, nothing to do with you subscriptions.

Do u have the disk. If so uninstall and then reinstall. Then try the updates. If that fails then contact Nortons Support. I also use Nortons. Hope this helps

all you need to do is do an update on your norton and when its done, try restarting your pc and do an update again.

maybe 2 or 3 restarts and updating will do the trick.
