Camera turns on but will not take picture

I can turn my DSC-P71 on and make any changes to the settings I like, but when I press the button to take a picture (or video...) nothing happens. I have reset the device and attempted new batteries. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I dropped the camera, now all functions and adjustments are normal however no image is displayed on the lighted screen. The camera will act as if it is taking pictures but none are recorded. When down loading to a computer a picture number is shown however only a pink screen is displayed.

If the lens comes out without showing an error code, and you have a live picture on the LCD, the problem is probably with the 2nd switch under the release button. It'll have to go to a repair shop.

You might have changed the batteries, but have you fully charged them? That's the recommended resolution from Sony
