We've replaced the correction tape in the typewriter several
times. This time it won't work. I've looked at the manual and we are doing it correctly. The tape is not reversed.
Any suggestions as to what we are doing wrong? Thanks, Lori

PUT THE SUPPLY SIDE ON FIRST ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PRINTHEAD. ABOVE THE TAPE AND RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CARDHOLDER THE IS A GUIDE, TAKE THE TAPE AND TURN ITTO THE RIGHT AND PUT IT IN THIS GUIDE. THE DULL SIDE OF THE TAPE SHOULD BE AWAY FROM YOU. THEN PUT IT BETWEEN THE TWO METAL "FINGERS" AND THE CARDHOLDER AND THEN IN THE GUIDE ON THE RIGHT SIDE, THEN PUT THE TAKE UP SPOOL ON THE POST AND TURN ITT THE DIRECTION OF THE ARROW ON THE SPOOL UNTIL IT IS TIGHT AND THE "LEADER" IS PAST THE PRINTHAMMER
Correction tapes DO have a shelf life, Also make sure the ribbon is moving and very important and this may sound dumb, but I have seen it that the ribbon is not a correction ribon. Are the spool turns orange or yellow? should be. Blue is multistrike and will not correct. Don't know the shelf life of ribbons but they do loose the ability to correct.....Good luck try new supplies..
Ok,there could be two possibilities ,1, The daisy wheel may not be seated in properly. Of course I assume that the print side of the daisy wheel is facing the platen and that when the typewriter is switched on the print unit makes its customary re-setting motion and that the daisy wheel spins around at the same time. if this does not happen make sure that the lock-in lever for the daisy wheel is pushed home.. I am sure that you do all these elementary things so the only other possibility is the the hammer seleniod is not fully functioning and would have to be re-placed....Good luck!
