Have a MMC5000B and it won't start or heat up. Keypad and everything else seems to be working normally. I think someone may have somehow turned on the timer pad feature as the manual says when it is on or counting down the fan, light and turntable don't operate. Any odea how to turn this off or what else it may be? (child lock isn't on either)
Have tried resetting the time to 3 seconds but didn't work. Could it be something else? Thought it did this the other day and fooled around with some buttons and started working again.

Re:
It's probably a bad door switch or it's loose in its mount.
I have complete help text files on safety, disassembly and door switches.
With help from those, you or a friend can safety disassemble the unit to check and replace the door switches.

The problem is a magnetron, "heart of the system" or the inverter board, "if 7 years old or less" and possibly the keypad control board, all of these items are not cheap and lethal voltages are present.
I think you are right on the money, the keypad control board is vital to the operation of the microwave oven, if the problem cannot be resolved it will require a complete replacement of the above mentioned part, unfortuneately cost should be considered.
Push the microwave door tightly closed. The computer will not start cooking until the door is closed for safety reasons. Some models of microwave will give a warning on the screen if the door is open.
Ensure you have programmed a heat setting, entered a cooking time and pressed the "Start" button on the microwave's keypad. Check that the microwave is not set to "Defrost" mode.
Unplug the microwave and wait for one minute. This measure will reset the microwave's internal computer if it has frozen or scrambled. Plug the microwave back in and try again.
Ensure the keypad lock mode is inactive. Most microwave ovens have a lockout feature that prevents children from starting the microwave while unsupervised. Lockout mode is usually deactivated by holding down the button that bears a padlock symbol
if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00
My Whirlpool microwave, over the stove, stopped working when my son used it to heat his food and a heavy sound came out, like something exploded in it. When I check it, there was nothing broke. Everything works fine except that it does not heat. I will appreciate any help
