Problems w/ my cuisinart smart blender

I received one of your cuisinart smartpower basics, model# CB-18 as a gift. I used this several times w/out problems then put it away for a few months. Now, I have it back out and tried to use it but I can not get the glass jar to line-up and sit securely on the base.(lock into place) I have know idea why this is happening, perhaps I'm missing a part???? Nothing seems to be broken. I could just be retarted and there is some trick to it, I've never had this problem before. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, bonita chatfield

RE: Cuisinart Vari-Speed CB-4. For no obvious reason, the blade mechanism on the bottom of the jar seems to have seized up and won't turn, causing it to sound as if it's striping the clutch. Fixable?

Yes fixable a number of ways

Remove the blades and punch out the shaft. Clean it all and then reassemble it with lots of water pump grease (it's waterproof). Seizing happens because liquid goes down between the shaft and housing and sets.

You can replace the blade assembly. The link below shows unavailable, but it shows the screw cap.

The bottom part that screws on the jug with the blades, either the o-ring is bad,or the screw on piece is cracked and needs to be replaced.

Misplaced manual. How to assemble Cuisinart Smartpower 7 speed electronic blender- Specifically need to know where to place the gasket.

Hello, W/D here.

You can download your manual here:

It is at the bottom of the page.

On page 4 of the manual is the instructions for assembly of the jar. With the jar upside down, lay the gasket on the threaded area, insert the blade/plate, and screw on the base. Nothing to it.

Best regards, --W/D--

Leaking cuisinart smart power 7-speed electronic blender

There is probably a hairline fracture or tiny crack in the blade assembly itself - replace the blade assembly - it will automatically come with a gasket, so you will have an extra.

Cuisinart sealing gasket

The gasket goes between the cutting assembly and the glass. So you slip it on over the top of the blades and then put the glass jar over top of that. Screw the bottom cap on to tighten everything together.

Lights blink, but Cuisinart Smartpower 7-speed wont turn.

The thermal fuse is blown. You can buy a replacement from RadioShack for $1.69 You have to remove the old one and solder in the new one. If youre "handy" its very easy. Take it to a repair shop, you pay about the same as a new one. Its too bad that most electronics made today are cheaper to throw away and buy a new one rather than fix them when they break.
