Monitors not working on Yamaha EMX512SC, worked once added a keyboard,now we can't get them to work.

First thing is to verify the power supply voltage, including that on the board.

This can affect the threshold of the keyboard scanning and cause keys to not work although some other things appear to work.

Replacing that chip in the filed is not practical, so whole board would be considered the FRU. One can probably get one from Yamaha America parts in CA.

Before doing that, checking the scanning signals and feedback from the keys needs to be checked with a scope. Also verify that the analog power amp section is working.

you CANNOT do this connection!!! Period !!! It will not work electronically The keyboards are fighting eachother as each is driving audio into the WYE. If you want to control both levels you need to use a controller that has two separate controls. At one point such a device was made but not sure if they still are... Here is a candidate:

Because it is solid state for one.

It is also a Class D type amplifier, so the 500 watts is only a a peak rating and not very accurate, it is not an RMS rating, there is a big difference.

Class D amps chop up the music stream so it is not a continuous signal like analog signals are. It has a generalized block diagram similar to a power inverter or an AM transmitter. You ear is not likely going to notice the difference.
