Brand new Whirlpool Duet Sport gas dryer & burning plastic smell
I just bought a new gas dryer and the clothes smell like burnt plastic when they come out. The inside of the dryer smells like this even when not in use. I have used dryer sheets, cleaned the filter, and all vents and cannot get rid of this smell. Please help!
Re: Brand new Whirlpool Duet Sport gas dryer & burning...
I would consult the place of purchase. If they do not stand behind the product, then get the manufacturers support #. They will stand behind their product, especially if it is a possible fire hazard. THe smell you are smelling could be anything, but without being there and taking off the cover and doing a visual check. it's hard to dianose. It is possible that something that is plastic has fallen out of a pocket and gotten inside the unit while it was drying clothes and fallen onto the igniter housing.

Good day, If it's new, and your sure there is gas in the line to the dryer, then you are entitled to a service call under warranty. Whirlpool warranties it's dryers for one year from date of purchase. Call your selling dealer. New one's won't work sometimes.
if its brand new,
anmd its gas, well then more than likely it was dropped, when it was dropped the graphite ignitor craked or broke due to shock impact,
i delivered units for 5 years and saw this numerous times.
I would tell you to fix it your self, but its brand new, if the company you bought it from has service they should give you a free service call and part
