Question about Panasonic PT-47WX5347 47" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Convergence Problem Hello, My Panasonic PT-47WX53 developed a symetrical "ghost" arc of blue. The arc is vibrating in line. It goes up about 1/3 of the screen and ends at the lower right and left corners. Horizontal convergence works but vertical is way off and not adjusting. Any thoughts? D-I-Y Serviceable? Thanks in advance!

The convergence IC's have been known to cause similar problems and both would be replaced at the same time. Not an easy job for a DIYer. I would get a repair shop to fix it.

There is an arc of varios colors at bottom 1/2 of screen

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Convergence On Panasonic PT-47WX54j

You dont need codes for the service menu you need to repair the convergence circuit. If the lines wont line up in the customer menu they wont line up in the service menu either. Do you know how to solder? If so we can fix this yourself with a little instruction. Otherwise you will need to call a repairman. A good repairman will run you $300-$500 depending on your area. Let me know what you want to do.
