No lights on cd/dvd

the part you are missing is going into your computer's bios to change the boot sequence to CD/DVD first so that it would read the dvd. The current setting is probably network since you are seeing the PXE failure

NTLDR is missing

Your windows installation has become currupted. Insert your Microsoft Windows CD and do the following.

When prompted push any key to start off the disk. ( May have to enter the BIOS and select your CD/DVD drive as the Primary boot device or first boot device.) (Since your Netbook does not have a CD drive you may need to use and External DVD drive or get your Netbook repaired by a computer technician.)

Then press enter to install Microsoft Windows.
Now press F8 to accept the terms.

Now you must press R to repair the your currect/selected operating system. By pressing R it will reinstall Windows keeping all your settings and files.

Take your Netbook to a computer technician for Windows, claim warranty support if available.

Take care!

Drive not recognized driver missing or currupt

a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps

Cd dvd / driver issues

I would suggest downloading Driver Magician. There is a small fee to register the product but once this is done it searches for and updates all drivers on your machine. Worked like a dream for me.

Toshiba satellite A205 - cd/dvd drive doesn't work

Hi there.

The CD/DVD drive uses Class Filter Drivers. These have probably been currupted or are missing. All you should need to do, is re-install the Chipset Drivers (Intel).

Here's the link:

http://configuration-guide.com/driver-toshiba-satellit-a205-windows-xp-downloads/

Let me know if that works.
