I just bought a house that has one of these dishwashers in it. I can't seem to get it to come on. The clean light keeps blinking. I can hit the Cancel/Drain button and hear the motor turn and empty the drain, but when i hit any other button it doesn't do anything but the clean light blink. Can you tell me what i'm doing wrong or is there something wrong with this dishwasher and needs to be repaired.
On another website, we found a reset code that works for our Kenmore, which I think is the same as yours. Hit Heated Dry, Normal Wash, Heated Dry, Normal Wash (one at a time, within six seconds).

My 2005 Kenmore built in dishwasher, the "clean green blinking light", kept blinking,,,no start on dishwasher,,,dishes were dirty...I read on "Fixya" the solution....press normal-heated wash- buttons over and over. This fixed the problem on January 9,2009.....I did another load on January 12, 2009 and dishwasher is working A-OK. I would like to thank the person who originally put thi solutin in Fixya.............I cancelled Sears and their $65. house call fee, Plus parts and labor...big time rip off.
Thanx again Fixya.///// H.T. Las Vegas, Nevada

The above solution reset code (heated dry, normal wash, heated dry, normal wash) worked for my 2005 Kenmore-branded Whirlpool also. I just canceled my $65 service call. Thank you, much appreciated.

That above solution (reset code heated dry, normal wash, heated dry, normal wash) worked for my 2005 Kenmore-branded Whirlpool. Thank you so much.

To "Guest" with the 2005 Kenmore. There should be a document attached to the inside of the baseboard cover (or whatever that cover is called). It is hard to find, but within that document will be the reset sequence. At least my 2005 whirlpool with a kenmore name on it had this. But the reset code listed above by "troybecca" worked for me, so perhaps your model is different. Good Luck!

I have the same situation on a 2005 Kenmore dishwasher. The conosle is frozen. There is a rest code (combination of buttons) which will release it. Anyone know the code? Sears Technical Assistance will not give it out unless you order a $75 service call.

Hi,
I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...
