Can I fix this before the windex ruins the screen? I already quickly wiped it off with a wet bounty paper towel.

I have had some luck with just letting things dry out for instance dropped cell phone in water completly submerged I shook what I could out of it sat it on my dashboard in van (after taking battery out) waited about a week cut it on and it worked like a champ Electronics are funny things This is something you could try depending on how fast you need it back you dont have to put it on dash just somewhere near heater may work or may not but worth a shot has worked for me in the past.

After reading sharcnet's reply yesterday that putting the unit in the freezer was absolutely the wrong solution, I was very panicked! However, once the unit thawed out it worked fine. We tried the freezer because we've used that tip before to "freeze-dry" cell phones that got wet. Luckily the LCD was not damaged & everything is working fine now. And my husband knows not to spray Windex on any electronic screen!

Well I'll say this. There has been no damage done yet. The problem is that the windex has wicked up in between the Lenticular screen and the Fresnel lens screen. If you attempt to seperate both screens yourself then I can guarentee you will damage both screens.
Not cheap to replace both screens. The screens CAN be cleaned with a screen cleaner from Screen Clean but the real problem is finding a Highly qualified technician who has done this many times before. The Fresnel lens screen is EXTREMELY soft and has tiny ridges that damage very very easily and you will see permenant black streaks in the picture. Never use Windex,Amonia or 409 and the like cleaners on the screens. When you use a screen cleaner, spray the cleaner on a MICRO cloth (Very Soft) then carefully clean the scree. Like I said, the screens can be cleaned safely only by a Highly skilled technician. The black spots from the windex will not eventually go away. Contact the tv manufacture as they can direct to a authorized service center they trust.

these tvs have a thin layer of plastic over the outside of the screen. no chemicals are to be used except for the special screen cleaning solution made for lcd tvs. try purchasing one of those screen cleaning kits from your local electronics retail stores and see if the haze can be removed if not the screen is damaged and there is no fix except to replaced the screen.
