Hitachi 51" projection tv has sound but no picture...help!
We had an estimate to fix it for $450 in which the supposed expert was rambling on with mumbo jumbo. Could this be a less expensive fix for us? This set is only 4 years old.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: Hitachi 51" projection tv has sound but no...
I founfd this, it could be the problem.
Symptom: NO VIDEO
Cause: Found L306 was open. B+ to pins 21,22 of PFC2 at the FC.
find L306, will be hard to find with all the boards, but L306 is a coil. if you can find it use a multimeter to see if it's open.
450 sound slightly high but if you have a service call or pickup & delivery it might be right. hopefully you find the coil bad.
It has no sound no sound
ok have someone replace the audio amp board
or resolder the audio amp ic
if that doesnt work try using the tv as a video monitor via the rca
make sure the speakers are turned on in the menu

Flash Focus magic button no longer work. The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.Tv colors lines R,G,B mis alignment, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures problems. The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. These parts, must be replaced on the tv convergence board to solved the tv convergence picture problems. The shop, will cost $300-350 for parts and labors.
If it is in EXCELLENT shape, 500 is not too much, but I would only offer 400 or 450. Hitachis seem to be pretty solid units. Ask if they have had any work done to the tv when you pick it up so you can know what to expect.
Resetting the tv by unplugging is definitely a good idea. dusting doesn't hurt either, because the dust can sit on the circuit board. when the dust heats up through use, it can cause damage to the circuits that unplugging and replugging won't fix :-)
