Hi There, I have a Canon Fax-L350. It is not receiving or sending faxes. I have checked the line and have a dial tone. If I call from my mobile it picks up and I get the fax line. I have tried faxing from another machine to it - failed and have tried faxing out - failed. It is set for in fax only mode and I have checked the connection. Any ideas anyone?
Sounds like you have done a through job troubleshooting and its reacting like it should. Try this first press data registration and press # press down arrow to clear and press set scroll down to ALL and set. This will wipe out all programming. Then try sending. If it still reacts the same. You may need to change the main board

The #018 code indicates a problem connecting to the receiving fax machine.
That phone line maybe busy or disconnected. It can indicate that the receiving machine didn't answer and provide the expected fax tones within 35 seconds. The settings for your fax machine may be incompatible with the receiving fax machines settings. The L100 Fax Phone is compatible with G3 fax machines. (The communication issue between compatible machines means that they do not successfully handshake before the fax can be sent. It's like one machine is speaking Greek and the other Mandarin Chinese.) Check with the person to whom you are sending the fax and make sure that they aren't having telephone issues. Ask if the fax machine is ready to receive the fax. Also check that the two fax machines are compatible with each other.
If you are sending the fax to someone in a different country, you need to add a pause between the country code and the fax number. The Fax Phone needs a pause here to ensure proper dialing.
I hope this helps. You can get some information on fax problems from the Canon Knowledge Base, https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART152562&cat=5258B001&actp=LIST&showDraft=false and the Fax Machine Basic User Manual. check and verify that the land line is correctly plugged into the right connector at the back of the fax.. secondly check that you actually have a dial tone.. this is not a fax problem.. its a connectivity problem.. Smiles
set the fax so you can hear dial tone... if no dial tone then check the fax line.... if fax line plugged in... plug it out of the fax and plug into a phone... if still no dial tone then change fax cable... if dial tone... then call your cell... if static... fax wont work call phone company... if you get a funny signal call phone company...
You only hit hook to hear the dial tone or use the machine like a speaker phone. To send a fax you press fax start. If you can't hear a dial tone when you press hook, there is something wrong with the phone line connection, or it's plugged in to the wrong plug on the machine. The phone line goes into the one marked with an L, the other with the pic. of a phone is for an additional telephone.
Plug a regular phone into the wall jack and listen for a dial-tone
Make sure the phone line is hooked into the LINE port of your fax machine.
Unplug the power cord for 10 seconds.
Do you have a DSL phone line?
do you have a seperate fax line? if so check the fax line.
also in the fax menu set up your fax to phone/fax mode, and set up all your fax info.
if you have distinq ring you need to set up your # of rings.
