Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console

PSP Bricked? two weeks ago i recieved a psp from a friend, and yesterday i updated the version to 3.01, using someone elses router(i dont no who, i scanned for a connection and used it) The update worked fine... when i went to system settings to enable wma playing, it said i was disconnected from the connection i was using (linksys) , i tried it a few more times , but wasnt connected, i then put the usb cable into the psp(not the computer, the psp only) and next thing i know, when i turn it on the screen is blank and theres no sound, only the green light. i looked into it online, people say that it is bricked, but those reports say that the green light turns off after aprox. 20 sec. mine stays on. the only ways i can turn it off are removing the battery and holding the on switch up for 10 sec. is it bricked?? if so what caused it, and if its not bricked how can i fix it?? Thank you, Omar

The easiest way i can think of would be to use a Pandora battery and magic memory card. that should solve the problem.

For psp what does bricked mean

"Brick" means corrupting your Firmware, the system that makes your PSP run. Bricking can be caused by either "interrupted update of firmware" or attempt to install "PSP Hacks" also known as Jailbreaks or Custom Firmware (CFW).
Some PSP Models can be revived when bricked by using a system called "Recovery Menu" which becomes available when the PSP was running a CFW before it bricked. Another way of unbricking a PSP including those that runs Original Firmware is using Pandora Battery and a Magic Memory Stick.
However, there are PSP MOdels that cannot be unbricked. These are the PSP 2000 Slim that have the Motherboard TA088v3 and other higher end. The worst PSP Motherboard is the TA088v3 because once bricked, PSP becomes a lovely paperweight without game functions and possibility to be revived.

Bricked PSP

Pandora Battery or Pandora Magic Stick, is psp utility for universal psp unbricker-downgrader- and updater.. the latest version of its utility is DC7..

To create pandora battery you need a psp with custom firmware ready or you can makes its with your PC. The software is open source by psp homebrew development.. that mean its free of charge...

You can't use other battery except psp battery, because psp battery has internal decoding to boot your psp into recovery menu... and has 3 pin battery for it.

If you would like to create your pandora it self, you can find most of our tutorials (all about psp homebrews) at our blog at http:e-arena.blogspot.com

Hopefully this be of some help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information, and also Show your Appreciation, to help other USER.

Son interrupted a firm ware update now PSP won't turn on

my investigations suggest that your son has "bricked" the PSP. Basically the memory that stores the firmware is corrupt and apparently only a main board replacement will fix the issue.

A google search found THIS. I have no affiliation with them and have never used them though.. might be worth a call at least??

HELP

Umm if you plugged in a game and it started to download something well to tell you the truth it wasn't downloading anything it actually was upgrading the firmware due to the fact that newer games need newer firmware. The problem is that now you stopped an update by turning of the console while it was processing and you just activated the worst kind of hell in your psp. This is called getting your psp bricked. IF what you describe is correct then I'm correct and i'm sorry to tell you but the only way that you are going to be able to unbrick it is by using pandoras battery. But the problem with pandoras battery is that you need to have someone else with a psp v 1.5 or with a modded version.

Here is the place you should go to and you would just need to sign up and get all the info on it by searching its forums for Pandora's Battery.

Psp wont turn on

If you are somebody another person had done the mistake while updating your PSP. For eg: 1) Removed the battery. 2) Unplugged the charger of your PSP. 3) Removed the UMD. then it is possible that your PSP is bricked it means it is useless untill you replace the motherboard with a new one.
