Question about Kenmore 53642 / 53644 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Accelerator switch My "accelerator" keeps coming on and off on its own, it freezes the water that comes out of the dispenser. The ice maker keeps working. Do you think it may be a faulty computer circuit board?

Yes, that would be a good guess as it controls how the "buttons" work.

Ice maker will not work. Water is coming into the back of the refrigerator and water dispenses out of water dispenser. But no water will go to the ice maker.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It’s on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Maytag sidebyside MSD2758DRW ice maker won't make ice

Hi,

If the ice maker no longer make ice, check the following.

Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on.

On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice.

Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

Thanks

My refrigerator (frigidaire plhs269zdb9) wont make ice.

A common cause for a clog is frozen water in the line. There is also a possibility that the water filter for the ice maker is clogged.Locate and replace the water filter. Filters for ice makers are typically located inside the refrigerator (to keep them from freezing).

The water dispenser and ice cube maker stopped working

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer. . GE makes a heater that will prevent this from happening again. The part number for this heater is WR49X10173.

disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

No water going into ice box of icemaker. Motor seems to be working ok. Checked hose not snagged.

Most times that will be the water control valve on the rear of refrigerator and most times they come as a pair or dual one side for water dispenser and other side for the ice maker. You can test to see if the ice maker is defective by turning switch on and fill with tap water. When it freezes and dumps but no water refills the ice maker then the valve for the ice maker side is defective and will need to be replaced as a pair. If you fill ice maker with water and it freezes and then does not dump then most likely the ice maker is defective.Thnks Sea Breeze

No water in ice maker

The ice maker itself sounds like its not calling for water, you would need to replace ice maker, not field servicable. did you switch the solenoid? or the wire(s) leading to solenoid??? by switch the wire(s) when you depress for water the ice tray will fill with water. reason i say that is possible that the solenoid is energized, perhaps the valve post its sitting on is no good
