I have just found this myself, and have not yet sent in my camera. Good luck!

SOURCE: Lost date and time data

I had the same problem, the best solution that I found, was to make sure that I put the new batteries in with 30 secs, and the date etc, remained at the correct time.

SOURCE: Fuji FinePix S9000 battery change clears date/time.

Hi

I started having a similar problem with my Fuji FinePix F10 after about 3 1/2 years of problem-free use. Another poster had some really helpful advice which I thought I'd pass on. It seems there is an internal battery or capacitor which basically fails after a while, meaning date/time settings etc are lost when the battery is removed. (Some people claim this is a motherboard/chip problem instead - seems to be contentious!) So the camera is faulty, but the problem can be worked around.

The advice I found, which worked for my camera, was this:

- Turn off camera and leave off for approx 15 seconds before opening battery door.
- Change battery quickly (within a few seconds).
- Close battery door and leave camera off for approx 15 secs before turning back on.

This retained all settings when I tested it multiple times. I imagine it might not work if changing over a totally dead battery though.

Hope it helps!

There is no internal battery. When the batteries become discharged or removed, the camera retains the date/time settings for about 24 hours. Most people have backup batteries fully charged so when one set is low in the camera, they can make the change quickly.

Camera will not turn on. I have replaced the batteries. Is there a internal battery?

If there is an internal battery, it's only function would be to maintain the date and time. It would have nothing to do with powering the camera.

Card not initialized

It wants you to format the card in the camera. Download any pics from the card first using a card reader if necessary since formatting will completely erase the card.

I have a Fuji Finepix S7000 digital camera. I works fine, but, when the batteries get discharged, the camera looses all the "setup" info (date, time, etc...)... Is there an internal battery or something...

Internal battery of S5600 flat?

There is probably not much you can do but I guess you could try getting a newer battery.
