Every time I turn my HD 1080 series Mitsubishi on 2 1/2 seconds later it turns off by itself

The TV is about 10 years old. I've also timed how long it stays on which is exactly 2 1/2 seconds.

Ok, a model number would be helpful but:

when set turns off and green power light goes out: on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time for at least five seconds and let both go.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it for a total of 5 times.

This is the error code and indicates where the problem may be---let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means.

Very good! You have found the problem--2,2 is short protection.

98% chance here one of the two pico fuses that protects the convergence circuit is blown.

Need a model number here but it uses either one chip or two depending on model.

It means you have to get at and replace the chip/s and the fuse---for some of these models I have start to finish instructions.

    you have several choices here:

    1. A good tech can do this in the home(shops who say not are to be passed) in about an hour---cost varies but is usually 200 plus.

    2. Several sites sell "kits" with all the parts needed (and some that will not be needed) for under 100 dollars and include instructions (general) for repair in your set.

    3. If it is a model I have instructions for (based on doing repair hundreds of times) I can email those to you for free. Parts cost (I know a good place) will usually be under 30 dollars total.

This repair in all these sets is basically getting at the chip/s and pico fuses and being able to un-solder them and replace them and solder then back in place.

If you get me the model number I can tell you if my instructions cover it, what it uses for chip/s and how to locate the pico fuses etc.

For some people with just average skills this can be a do it yourself repair.

Can't loate bool;et for Mitsubishi HD 1080 Series Medallion

it is usually in the Audio settings, sometimes by the CC settings, if you go to the TV and enter th menu from the set, go thru one at a time until you find the spot to turn it off, it is under options or Menu on the remote also, there maybe an SAP Option on the remote itself, but you may have to press another key first like a "Function: Key.
I hope this helps some, if so please give me a good (fixya) rating. Thanks and have a Blessed Day
