Question about ViewSonic G810 21" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Screen flickers After turning on the monitor, the screen flickers/twitches and sometimes it seems to shrink and expands just a little bit. Is this monitor on the verge of going out or do I need to check the card or drivers? Is it worth repairing this monitor? Thanks.

The problem is that it is on the verge of going out my mother had a monitor go out and it did the same thing. Also if you have any high frequeny things around your monitor thatr also migh be the thing. Try a magnet or demagnitze the screen if you have one on it.

T61 Screen flicker and distortion.

Sometimes if the machine overheats it can weaken the solder points on a video chip so that if you touch it or bend a bit it straightens out and works fine. You can get that repaired board can be re-soldered by a company that does that sort of thing. For around $40-$80 dollars you have to ship the board and have it done. Usually pretty fast service. or it seems that maybe you may get lucky here cable monitor could be slightly wire pinched. You will need to take Monitor and cover plate off the front of the keyboard where the power button is located and check the connection it may also just need a good cleaning or make sure it is not pinching anywhere and is straight forward. This happens sometimes with monitors for laptops the moving monitor back and forth over time can cause wear on the wiring.
I would check that first wiring then clean the connection with rubbing alcohol the kind that drys out. While you at it I would also dust it out good especially the copper tube vent ports make sure they are free of debris. If this does not solve the problem also check the lamp. Hopefully it is not the screen going bad itself. It does seem to me to be the monitor cable pinching on you or shorting check that out good. Or have a pro shop do it for you.
I hope that assisted you? John

Grey, flickering screen

Possible LCD issue, but you have to check first in BIOS if the same symptoms.

If in BIOS doing the same it is already a mechanical failure.

If not? check all the connections and also try reformating the system.

My problem with this screen is that when I try to go to another web site the whole screen starts flickering and I can't go to another web site. Happens once in awhile, sometimes it works great and then all...

Could be a loose cable inside off the monitor. There is a cable that hooks into the back of the lcd and if that is even loose by a little bit it can make the screen act crazy. If you can get the back cover off of the monitor, try to unseat and reseat that cable to see if the problem goes away.

If you do that and it still exists then the lcd is bad and the whole monitor needs to be replaced.

173v flat lcd black screen

I've had a similar problem with my 173v monitor since I bought it a few years ago. When I start my computer, Mac or PC (I've connected it to both), the screen remains black and the green power light flickers once a second, almost like it's twitching - it's different from the blink it makes when the computer isn't turned on but the monitor is. Like kronem, I have to unplug the line from the monitor to the computer, wait for the monitor to register no input, and then plug the monitor in again before it displays anything. I've never figured out a way around the problem - I hate it!

Screen rolls

Hi,
I'm writing to you on a screen that is rolling and sometimes flickering right now. I've tried 3 different screens on the same outlet, and they all have the same problem.

1. If you have any speakers near your monitor, try moving them away, this might help because they might not be shielded enough.

2. Try another screen, if the problem persists, it may be your power outlet.

3. If you don't want to spend money on a new screen, spend some time looking for a 3-prong grounding adapter.

I used the 3-prong grounding adapter, those little adapters that plug into the wall using 2 prongs, and then you can plug a 3 prong appliance into them on the other site, and it helped make the rolls not appear as often, and not as dark.

I think it is something with my power or the plug I am using.

Hope this may have helped a tiny bit

Flickering Picture?

Your set might have a high voltage leak and that is the noise you hear when is showing the screen problem or even maybe an arking too ,either one is related to the high voltage and it can be dangerous,if you are familiar with tv service you can try to see where is arking and replace the part with an exact replacement but if the set has a leak you will not see it and is not safe to be close to it,if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
