I have had some problems with my new FY700, I had tried various things to get it working, and it has been back to the shop about 3 times to get checked out. 1. After threading the needle, I use the sewing machine for about 5-10 minutes and then the thread gets stuck in the bobbin region, it gets to the point where I can not even move the needle up and down using the wheel to get the needle to move out. Also the wheel feels loose, like a bolt or belt has slipped. 2. When the thread wraps itself around the bobbin casing, I have to pull apart the casing after removing the bobbin to remove the extra thread jammed in the casing. I have done sewing at a basic level for the last few years as a hobby (main interest lies in other areas) but ever since I have had this machine (as a Christmas present) it has caused me nothing but grief and for me to get to the stage of throwing it out the window means that it is really getting me upset (I used to be a computer technician so I have a lot of patience dealing with problems). I would really appreciate some answers to this (even if it means getting another type of sewing machine) as I am looking at throwing the sewing machine out the window as the sewing shop reckons that I am doing something wrong and should have sewing lessons. Kind regards, Paul
I have a brand new Singer with the same issue. (thread wrapping around the bobbin).
I've finally just put it in a closet, which I could barely do, 'cause I've purchased so much fabric looking forward to sewing again.
Is there any solution to this, the sewing machine has just become an expensive knickknack.
Very frustrasting, Singer & the dealer are of no help at all. The 90 day warranty has run out. Even so, the warranty covers parts only, not service, & they say all parts are intact, even though they do not work.

My bernina 1630 started making erratic noises so I oiled the bobbin and now it is puckering and skipping stitches

I am having exactly the same problem as you are reporting. Its been fine but today I tried to hem some blackout lining fabric and the machine jammed every few inches in the way you are describing.I've tried changing needles, tensions etc but to no avail and now I'm worried about damaging fabric I've bought to make curtains. Like you I've spoken to a repair shop person and they made me feel like I was a complete idiot who didn't know what I was doing (mind you, that's how I'm feeling right now!!).I'm away to take the machine to be looked at so if I come up with any pointers I'll let you know. Update on the problem, I ended up getting a Singer sewing machine for the same price, the shop I bought the Yamata from exchanged it since I had no end of problems over the 12 months that I had the machine while it was under warranty.
perhaps it was just a lemon sewing machine like any other mechanical device that can be faulty.
I sincerely hope that you don't end up with the same solution in the end, Ruth, as I did.
Regards,
Paul
