Question about Apple Cinema 20" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor spaz-mcgee ok this problem occurred once before a couple days ago but not to this extreme. it started out with the "." key on the keyboard. for some reason any text input area on the computer started to be filled in by the "." key. it would just repeat itself without stopping. if i hit the "backspace" key it would stop but if i let go, it would continue on its merry way again. it suddenly stopped and now today it happened again. only this time the monitor has gone negative. and by negative i mean like that of the negative of a photograph. i was trying to stop the "." from repeating and pressed as many keys as i could at the same time (i know, not the smartest move ever) but it got the "." to stop. then a second later the screen flickered and then was showing everything like a negative. is there something wrong with my computer or monitor or the connections between? is anyone familiar with this sort of issue? please help!

This is really sounds like a keyboard issue. From your description it sounds like your ?.? key is locked in the active position, note that the key doesn?t have to be down for the contact below to be engaged. This isn?t uncommon, especially with older/cheaper keyboards. A quick test is just to replace it with another USB keyboard, even a Windows keyboard will do for a test. If that solves your problem you can try taking it apart to clean, however, if it?s in warranty I would just call Apple support. If its fairly old I would just bite the bullet and spend $35 for a new one.

Philips 190B monitor turn black, then show blue Philips and then it is ok. It kept going through this routine

I could be completely 'out to lunch.' but - what are you doing with the Phillips? Is it connected to Dish? We have Dish. An antique system. I called them a couple of days ago, because I was taping something, and the screen went to a violent pink. The next day, they came out, and replaced Everything. Dish, box, and remotes. They understood that the old sytem was breaking down. Hope you find a solution. These toys - we depend on. Then they implode. Annoying, in the extreme.

Spacebar stuck

Ok ya gonna haveta get a New Keyboard for ya Lappy... they are relatively easy to replace they are an "All-in-one" thing and usually have a ribbon cable that plugs into the motherboard... ya could disconnect it for now and plug in an external keyboard to ya Lappy to get ya going... But be gentle getting the old keyboard out.. maybe even go online and get a Manual to see how it comes apart.. else it's off to the shop. GL

Half Dead Monitor

Dear
This problem is caused by keyboard switches which are bad quality they are easy to replace, so if you are able to work with solder you can finish replacement in 15min.
Good luck.
