Toshiba Theaterview HD 52"

My Toshiba has a blinking red power light but a black screen and no sound. It appears that power is getting to it and, when I turn it on, it makes a noise as if it is starting up but it does not. It is onlyu five years old. can anyone help?

I have the same tv and had it fixed the problem is most likely the power supply a $50.00 part but I suggest you have a repairman do the fix. Total cost should be around $250.00 for labor and parts. Also unplug your tv for over 4 hours then plug it back in to see if it works they call this a hard reset. If this does not work after 4 hours try unplugging it overnight and then try it. That is what I did to use the tv until I got it fixed. The only thing it could be is the convergence circuitv if this is the case it should cost about $400.00

I have the Toshiba Theaterview. Was watching it when I heard a sound and the screen went black. The Red Light will come on and glow steady and you hear it click when you try to turn it on or off but...

Something is causing the TV shut down or go in to 'protect' mode.
It is unusual to actually hear a component inside the TV go bad, but you obviously did. Probably in the main power supply or something that normally uses a higher voltage in the TV since you heard it..

Have an older Toshiba theaterview TV, when turn on, we have no picture, no sound, just black screen and blinking red light that just continuously blinks.

Theaterview suggests a rear projection--in that case it most likely is in the convergence circuit--unsolder chips (convergence) and see if set turns on.

Some of their regular TV sets (picture tube) if the light is just blinking means the same thing=shutdown because of a short/problem but a model number would tell me which you have.

Screen remaining black after the TV is turned on

Some newer sets appear that way when there is NO signal to the set. That and my Sony looks like that when the bulb is burned out.
