Bad Lamp lights even with new bulb.

My projector, after 50-75 hours of use, quit working and the Bad Lamp light came on. I took the old bulb out but couldn't see anything wrong with it. After ordering a new bulb and installing it the Bad Lamp light still comes on and the projector doesn't work. Thanks for any suggestions, Dean

Same problem, I replaced the Bulb and the projector works for about 10 seconds and then goes out with the Lamp Indictor line coming on.

used the original bulb for a few years about 1500 hours.
bought a new one have less than 10 hours on the lamp and the projector went out and the bad lamp light came on. What can be done?

Same problem....orange lamp light after a new bulb. Works fine for about 10-15mins, then orange lamp light and unit shuts off. Unplugging the power cord resets the unit, only to do it again.

I just reset the lamp time under the on screen display(OSD) management, and that seemed to have fixed my prob...but time will tell.

Yep, same issue. Worked fine during a test and then the orange light later. I also do not get a fan so I guess with the lamp out, the whole unit shuts down. Am concerned to hear that replacements are problematic. At $349 I'd like to think all would be well . . .

Dear Sirs, I have a BENQ PE8700 projector. I know it's outdated, but it still suits me fine. I've already changed the lamp, and this new one is 1000 hours old. I am recently having a problem:...

If the bulb on this projector is filament less then it may be a bad ballast. If it is that kind of a bulb the ballast is like the starter on a florescent bulb that excites the internal gases for light to be emitted. If it conks out, the bulb stops emitting light even though the cooling fan stays on.

I'd recommend checking the fans of the projector, and make sure that they're spinning. Since you've mentioned that the lamp blew inside the unit, bits and pieces of the lamp might have lodged itself within the fans. It might also have to do w/ the after-market replacement bulb, which I normally wouldn't recommend.

You only want to reset if the projector doesn't turn on because it is a safety feature so the lamp does not explode. They get really hot and need to be replaced when due.
There is a reset button on the inside of the
RGB connection bay(look deep) for a reset button, hold it down until the lamp light turns blue.
If flipped over on it's back, you would see it straight down beyond the connectors. Of course this will reset to factory settings. let me hear how it goes good luck!

Blinking status light

Replacing the lamp with an old one was helpful for me. Good news: the projector itself not faulty. Bad news: I have two projectors with the same issue at the same time (the lamps were replaced also at the same time) after only 400 hours of running.
